She kissed me.
Aurora kissed me .
For the past week, I haven’t been able to think about anything else. Replaying that moment in my car over and over. Her soft lips on mine. The taste of sugary sweet coffee on her tongue. The quiet moan that left her throat.
I need her lips back on mine. My mouth on every inch of her.
Quinn waves at me from my webcam. A deep line etched between her brows.
Hello! I said I found my prom dress.
Good. And you’re going stag.
Obviously. I literally just told you I broke up with Adam . She signs the news to me like she’s informing me about what she ate for lunch.
That didn’t last long.
Quinn is notorious for having lots of boyfriends. She never stays in a relationship for longer than a few months. Unfortunately, the same goes for staying single.
In the fall, she’ll enroll here and she’ll have even more guys in her dating pool. Too bad I’ll already have graduated and I won’t be able to keep an eye on her when she’s here. More importantly, I won’t be able to keep an eye on the little shits who think they have a shot with her.
Did you expect any different? Quinn takes pride in breaking hearts.
Nope. Maybe stay single for a while now. Try something new.
She rolls her eyes. Would you be this protective of a brother?
Yes. Doesn’t matter that you’re a girl. I’m protective because I give a shit about you.
Good. I would be so disappointed to have a misogynist for a brother. Her head tilts, and her mouth lifts into a smirk. I brace myself. You’ve been looking weirdly happy lately. Did you finally get laid?
I grimace. We’re not talking about that.
Well, something happened. Spill.
She’ll pester me until I cave. Can’t help the smile that pulls at the corner of my mouth as I sign the words to her. I kissed Aurora.
Quinn’s eyes brighten. And then did you bang?
Jesus, Quinn. No. Though I sure as hell wish we did. Aurora climbing on my lap from the passenger seat, pressing her back against the steering wheel as I tear open her shirt and pull down her lacy bra?—
Quinn narrows her eyes. I don’t get what you’re so giddy about then. I kiss people all the time, and I don’t look like you after. You’re in love, aren’t you?
It was a kiss. That’s it.
That’s all any of us can be to Aurora right now. A rebound. She’s been through too much, too recently. She’s not ready for anything more.
But I’ll wait. I’ll wait however long it takes for her.
Quinn smirks. You’re falling for her. I can tell.
A soft knock on my bedroom door. My saving grace. Gotta go.
I slap my laptop shut before Quinn can object. Swing the door open just as Sienna’s about to knock again.
“Hey!” She smiles. Sienna’s always been sweet. Cute. We thought she was down to be shared once. Luke put a stop to that pretty quick. Hard to even imagine it now. She’s more like a sister-in-law now than a puck bunny. “I want to talk to you about Aurora.”
I lean against the doorframe. Tilt my head. She takes it as an invitation to continue.
“I’m worried about her. Her ex showed up while she was at work.”
Every muscle goes rigid. I straighten, hands curled into fists.
Sienna throws her hands up to calm me before I can fly off the handle. “She’s okay. He just asked to talk to her over coffee, she turned him down, and he left. But...I’m worried he’s not going to leave her alone. Even with the restraining order.”
I nod. Jaw clenching so hard my teeth hurt. Been worrying about that possibility since we found out about that motherfucker.
“I think we should invite her to move in with us,” Sienna says. “We would all be fine with it. I’ve already brought it up to Juliet, and you know Luke and Trey wouldn’t care.”
Damien, Knox, and I would all love for Aurora to move in. Share her, take turns holding her at night, drive her to class and work. Sure as hell would make protecting her a lot easier. But she’ll never go for it.
At the expression on my face, Sienna adds, “I know she’ll be resistant to it. She’s been through a lot, and she doesn’t want to depend on anyone. But if she comes around to it, I just wanted to let you know we all support it.”
I smile at her. Sienna’s a sweetheart. Glad she and Juliet have been good friends to Aurora lately.
Sienna gestures to my room. “Okay, I’ll let you get back to jerking off or whatever you were doing.”
That manages to pull a laugh out of me. After all this talk about Aurora, I probably will. A few times. Enough to satiate me until I can get my hands on her.
Sienna starts to leave until she grins over her shoulder at me. “Violet was right.”
I tilt my head. No clue what she’s talking about.
“She said you three would fall for a girl and you wouldn’t even think of another,” Sienna explains. “She was right, wasn’t she?”
Sienna doesn’t wait for my confirmation before she strides off. At the time, I thought Violet was full of shit. One girl for all three of us? Not a chance.
Good thing she’s already graduated and isn’t here to witness how right she was.
I shut my bedroom door behind me. Sit at my desk and open up my laptop. On my internet browser, I type: Jeremiah Crowder.
