Sobbing.
“Fuck you.” It’s all I have left to say before I sink the knife into Chase’s heart.
He sucks in a sharp breath, his eyes widening before they slowly close as the life drains out of him.
I let go of the knife as if the handle burned me and turn to bury my face in Elias’s chest. He cocoons me in his long, strong arms.
“I’m so proud of you,” he says softly and kisses the top of my head.
We stand there for a few minutes before he releases me.
“Come on, my wife.” He holds out his hand. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”
He leads me down a hallway to a room that has a bed and a bathroom, and we quietly shower together.
No sex, just a few kisses, and a terrifying and dangerous man taking care of the woman he keeps saving.
Who he chose to spend the rest of his life with.
Chapter 32 – Elias
It’s been a few months since Sage killed her ex.
She’s handling it better than I expected. I should have known because Sage has always surprised me with her strength and determination.
Tonight is the fundraiser and the unofficial introduction of The Five Boroughs Alliance.
The news of Gio Lenetti’s death spread fast across New York City. Some knew about his life of crime, but he was mostly known as a prominent businessman. He owned some of the best restaurants and nightclubs in Manhattan and the Bronx.
His death was reported as natural causes, a favor I cashed in for my new soon-to-be sister-in-law.
Lenetti left all his money to Noah, but she gave it away to charity organizations and sold his businesses for pennies either to staff or to those Gio wronged over the years.
The Lords and the Empire are gone.
The QBM is dead along with Percy’s pathetic legacy. We kept his fake death a secret, only letting a few we trusted know what really went down in Fresh Meadows. I didn’t want him to have any more undeserved attention.
I’m sitting in the living room when Sage walks out, ready for tonight’s event.
Fuck me. She looks amazing.
My eyes scan her body from the black stiletto heels, up her tanned legs and the side split of her red dress. The fabric clings to her body, draping down to the ground. The top is a corset with sheer sleeves that hang off her shoulders and pushes up her plush breasts fantastically.
“My wife,” I nearly growl, standing.
She smiles as she walks to the kitchen while putting on her gold hoop earrings. Her blonde hair is styled in a half updo with wavy strands falling down her back.
“My husband,” she echoes.
I reach the kitchen island and grab my wallet sitting on the counter, placing it in my back pocket. After putting on the holster holding my EpiPen, inhaler, and Benadryl, I pick up my guns and knives. Sage watches me place them in holsters all over my body: shoulders, waist, shins.
My Reine’s eyes fill with desire as I roll my sleeves down, covering the ink along my forearms. I grab my suit jacket draped over a chair and slip it on.
“You better stop looking at me like that, Ma Chérie, before I throw you on this counter and feast on your sweet pussy.”
She smiles and rolls her eyes. “You’re insatiable.”
“I’m not the one who was eye-fucking my forearms.”
