“None of you signed up to be bait,” Jun whispered. “If you want to go into hiding, it can be done.”
“But it would be better if we didn’t, right?” Jaewoong grimaced. “If you’re playing bait, we’re part of that.”
“We can come up with a cover story,” Jun said. “Fake your death if we have to.”
“No,” Jaewoong lifted his chin. “I’m in. I’m not leaving you and I’m like hell not giving up on Rei.”
“Same,” Geun grunted.
Yohei nodded. “Count me in.”
A tear ran down Su-jin’s cheek. He had to clear his throat before he could speak. “I’ve known, ever since you came back, Jun, that they might come for me instead. But you, and you,” Su-jin nodded at Émeric and Damian, “you’ve protected us. I don’t want anyone else to have the nightmares I have at night. So, yeah. I’ll play bait with you.”
“Gives the lyrics of Haunted Doll a whole other meaning,” Jaewoong said. “Is that what you were thinking when you wrote it?”
“Some of it. I didn’t know everything when I first wrote it, but when we were editing…the final version, I knew then.”
“Well, shooting that MV is going to be intense.” Jaewoong grimaced.
Damian
A tap-tap came from across the room. Damian squeezed his eyes together. What time was it? Was Jun up? No, Jun was laying under his thigh, just starting to stir. Was it Artemis?
Damian raised his head.
Not the cat. No. It was Sevastyan, leaning against the cave, arms crossed.
“Heard of knocking?” Damian groused.
Sevastyan gave a half-smile. “I did. Just now.”
Jun pushed himself up. They were both naked under the covers. That didn’t seem to bother Jun. He slid out of bed, reaching for a pair of Carhart pants and pulling them on. Damian followed suit. Sevastyan watched, shamelessly.
“Looking to join the harem?” Damian snarked at the Russian. Not his best manners, certainly. But then again, waking to find someone had bypassed their security to enter their bedroom was unsettling.
Sevastyan grinned, uncrossing his arms. “Don’t worry, I’m aiming to start my own. Or convince Ellisandre to start one.”
Damian raised an eyebrow.
Jun cocked his head in the middle of putting on his shirt. “The three of you?”
Sevastyan shrugged. “Tell you, someday. If we live. You, Junseo, are more of a devil than expected. The Merchari think you’re a sociopath.”
Jun rocked back on his heels, buttoning up his pants. “So they bought it.”
“Bought it. Were impressed with it. Think you have a better chance of making BBB3 profitable than Bak. They don’t trust you. But they don’t want to sell you anymore.”
“Just kill me, more likely, and sell the rest.”
“If it comes to that, yes. But they’re giving you a year to show them what you got. With just 5N, on your own. They’re going to keep stalling your lawsuit against Bak, but the charges will be dormant. You can travel to Seoul, conduct business, for a year. As long as you tell no one about your deal.”
“That’s everything we wanted.” Jun looked at Damian for confirmation.
Damian pressed his lips together and nodded. “We can work with that.”
Sevastyan also grimaced. “Expect me around. I’ve been assigned to watch you.”
Jun narrowed his eyes. “More bedroom visits?”
