Page 7 of Crave
I kept walking, stopping at the small alcove and the bedroom door at the end of the hall, my sister’s Angelica’s. “How’s that?”
“Because I have in my possession a recording…of your mother…on the date of her death…having sex with a man who’s not your father.”
I froze staring at her door.
My pulse thundered.
My world darkened.
“You want to say that again?”
Fucking bullshit.
Fucking BULLSHIT.
This motherfucker was going to say anything. He was going to say?—
“I’m watching the recording right now. It’s her, your mother and another man…and not only that…your sister, Angelica…she knows the truth.”
That brutal rage plummeted inside me, carving all the way through the pain and the loss. “Send me the recording, London…no more lies. No more secrets. I want the truth.”
“I agree.” He said and started typing. “It’s time you get to the bottom of this. I’m sending it now. If you want more…I have it. Find out who did this, Silas and protect your family.”
“I will.” I stared at my sister’s door, then hung up the call.
My breaths were heavy, staring at the darkness of her door. Fingers clenched around the cell. I took a step as a beast inside me howled for vengeance. I shook, desperate for the need to go in there, to tear her from her fucking bed and scream in lying goddamn face.
She knew.
She fucking knew.
That goddamn bitch stood next to us as we buried our parents and still she said nothing. It took all my goddamn strength to move backwards, but I did, turning around and headed for my bedroom. One click and the glare was instant, flooding the room. A low moan came from the woman in my bed. I bend down, picking up her dress and her purse and threw it toward her. “Get dressed, then get out.”
She opened her eyes. Black mascara a damn mess. “What?”
“I said.” I leaned on the bed, seeing her clearly now.“Get dressed, then get the fuck out.”
Her lip trembled as she shook her head. Stupid whore didn’t know when she was used. Only…it seemed like she was the one who did all the using. I rose, waiting for the realization to hit.
It did…
And it was messy.
Tears came as she crawled from the bed, and then came the screaming. I stood there, taking her blows and slaps, all the while my mind replaying St. James’s words. My mother…fucking another man? There was no way it was her. It couldn’t be…my parents had their fucking faults. But they were in love.
“I thought we had something!”The bitch in front of me screamed.
“We did,” I answered coldly. “A mistake.”
She dressed and I walked her out, messaging for an Uber before leaving her outside the house.
“You’re a bastard, you know that?” Her words stopped me.
I gave a nod. “I know,” then walked back in, closing the door behind me.
I had a video to watch.
A sister to interrogate.
