Liar…
Chapter Eight
SILAS
She scurriedpast Gabe like a goddamn mouse and disappeared inside. All I wanted to do was to go after her, to grab her and her fucking bags, and drive her against the wall. I wanted answers. But it wasn’t just answers I wanted now. I wanted that look…that piercing goddamn stare from the recording as she looked up at me on her knees…the one now etched into my head.
“Hey.” Gabe called, striding toward me ever the white fucking knight when it came to his sister.
Our sister remember?
I strode around the car, but he was in front of me blocking my way. I stopped, lifting my gaze to him. Jesus, how the fuck did he get so tall all of a sudden? He was supposed to be my little brother. But the pissed off male scowling in front of me wasn’t so little not anymore. But he didn’t understand what was going on here…and he needed to stay the fuck out of it.
“Leave it, Gabe.” I moved around him.
“No.” He stepped at the same time, stopping me.
“I saidleave it.”I forced the words through clenched teeth.
“If youthinkshe had anything to do with any of this, then you’re an even bigger asshole than I already thought.”
His words hit me hard. “What did you say to me?”
He sucked in a hard breath, his eyes widening with a flare of panic. Still he stood his ground. “She didn’t write the will. She asked for nothing, only to ever be included in the family. But you and the others have never wanted that, and now you’re making that clearer than ever.”
The will?
That’s what he thought this was all about?
The lying bitch could stay here all she wanted. In fact, I wanted her here…right where I could control her.
I shook my head. “Think what you want.”
“Then tell me otherwise. Whatisyour problem with her?”
He wasn’t going to leave it, was he? I met that flicker of panic. Maybe I should tell him what he wanted to hear. I saw it in my head. I’d get my phone out, replay the recording. Let’s see what he thinks of his innocent little sister when he watches her sucking some motherfucker off.
My pulse raced at the thought. Whatwouldhe think of her?
Not what I was thinking that was for sure.
“Maybe she didn’t have a hand in the will, but that doesn’t mean she’s entitled to a goddamn thing.”
“She is our sister by law. That means she does. It’s about time you and the others realised that. Maybe you think the same about me?”
“What? No.” I barked, running my fingers through my hair.“Of course not!”
He gave a slow nod as Theo strode out of the rear door and headed for us. But Gabe was done, that panic now turned to pain. “You know one day you might not have all of us around, maybe then you might appreciate those we have left.”
He turned and strode away, passing Theo as he headed back inside.
“What was that about?”
“The same thing as always.” I murmured watching Gabe stride after her.“Her.”
“Speaking of. Are we doing this tonight?”
