Pierre’s fighting made me upset. Not that he was fighting because I knew what type of man he was, but why? When I saw Pierre and Zeus fighting, I didn’t understand. We had gone back to Indigo’s family home. When she came by Best’s house to pick me up, I was surprised. She told me Bishop had given her the address, and she didn’t want to go shopping alone.
It allowed me time to get to know her more. She seemed happy, but the more we talked, the more I realized something about her happiness seemed forced. I wanted to pry, but I allowed her to tell me the things she wanted me to know. She explained how she and Bishop met, and that’s when the pieces of Grace and Angela came into play.
I couldn’t believe it. The Cove was a world of its own. As soon as we stepped into the house, Pierre grabbed my arm, turning me his way.
“Damn it’s like that?”
“You tell me? Why were you out there fighting that man?”
He pointed behind him.
“Did you not see my best friend out there fighting? I’m not about to let my nigga get jumped. Besides, the nigga put his hands on me first, and one thing about me, Tuesday I’m not a pussy ass nigga!.
“he shouted.
Suddenly, I heard Indigo scream so loud it scared me.
“It’s over, Bishop! Leave!”
“Indigo, baby, please,.
“he tried talking to her.
“No,.
“she shook her head.
“No, it’s over. I cannot handle this shit. I’ve been nice. I’ve been quiet. If you want to go and fight and do all that shit, you can. I don’t want to be around it,.
“she finished and walked upstairs.
Bishop looked at us, and I could tell those words sucked the life out of him. Pierre glanced at me, then at Bishop. It was as if he were trying to decide whether to reconcile with me or check on his friend. Bishop walked out of the house and slammed the door behind him.
“I will talk to him,.
“another guy said, slurring a bit.
Pierre looked at me.
“Let me get you out of here. I will get up with Bishop later.”
Pierre took me by the hand and led me outside. We walked down the steps, and that’s when I saw Bishop by the garage with his head leaning against it.
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!.
“he shouted as he began punching it.
I wonder if this is what Pierre was like when we had our moment. It made me sad that they were going through this, and I hoped they found a way to fix it because Indigo seemed like she really loved Bishop.
