Page 16 of Conflicting Lyrics (Heartbreak Melody #1)
Gavin’s bike starts to slow the closer we get to the fence at the end of the back road we’ve been traveling on for the past five minutes.
I’ve been so distracted by the excitement of riding on the back of a sexy biker’s motorcycle and the beauty of the world around me that I didn’t pay attention to the possible danger around me.
As we pull to a stop, panic strikes through my veins.
What the fuck have you done, Lulu? Has living through the abuse of a fucked up cult not taught you to be more vigilant when it comes to the damn dangers of life?
It’s a universal rule to not take candy from strangers, not to go near white vans with no windows, and if you see a sign that says free puppies and kittens, run.
Well, I think ‘ don’t get on the back of a hot tattooed man’s bike and let him drive you off into the middle of butt fuck nowhere’ should be added to that list!
Listen, it’s all well and fine in books. I encourage it really; love me a hot, sexy, crazy man obsessed with the main female.
But this is real life.
And I willingly left with these Alphas when the facts are: my phone is dead, I have no idea where I am, and no one else I know does either.
“Lu?”
I didn’t even process that the bike stopped, we’ve parked, and he was now standing in front of me.
“Lu?” I blink up at him, the inner freak-out momentarily forgotten. “Never been called that before.”
He grins down at me, his wavy blond hair messy from the wind. “What do you like better? Little one, Darlin’, or Lu?”
“All three?” I answer, although it comes out more as a question.
He lets out one of those laughs that is the very damn reason I’ve been sucked into this situation. It’s like I forget about everything at the sound of his laugh, the sight of his smile, and the way that he smells.
The closer he gets, the faster my heart beats.
“How about Lu when you're being a brat, Darlin’ when I’m feeling playful…
” He pauses, trailing his fingers along my jaw and making me shiver before sliding them into the back of my hair.
He grabs a fistful, getting a firm grip, and tugs my head back.
The action is strong but not rough. Stepping forward, he brings his mouth so damn close to mine, I feel my brain fizz out and my thighs clench together.
“And Little One for when I’m knot deep inside that pretty, perfect pussy of yours. ”
Oh, he’s good. So fucking good. Too fucking good. Wait, what was I freaking out about before?
Fuck it. It doesn’t matter.
“Smooth, brother.” Brady’s chuckle sounds from behind me. “Now, how about you stop hogging the pretty little lady and give me a chance to woo her.”
“Woo me?” I mumble, blinking out of the haze. “And why would you want to do that?” I raise a brow. “Alphas who look like you have got to have pussy lining up.”
Lulu. Shut up. Just… fucking shut up.
They both snort, and yeah, they may or may not be twins, but they still got that freaky twin thing down pat.
“I’d be a liar if I said you were wrong.
Because you're not. In the life we live, there are women around us all the time. Sweetbutts know what they want, and they do what they can to get it.” Brady steps closer, his hand reaching up to cup my cheek, keeping me facing him.
“The thing is, little lady,” he murmurs.
“We don’t want them. Haven’t had any interest in them for a while now, really. ”
“Why?” the question comes out breathily.
The corner of his lip tips up as he searches my eyes. “Because we’ve been wanting to settle down. Find us an Omega to love and spoil.”
Damn it. Why do I like the sound of that so much?
“And none of the women at the club are what we’re looking for,” Gavin says. Somehow, I got boxed in by both brothers, causing me to breathe heavily as my head spins.
Now that I’m close enough to Brady, I know he’s not my scent match either. Another pang of disappointment hits me, but just like his brother, his rich leather and musk scent lights my body on fire.
“They’re not?” I feel like I’m hypnotised by the two of them.
“Nah,” Brady answers, my eyes flick back over to his.
“Then what are you looking for?” It seems I have no control over my mouth either.
“Would it be cheesy if we said you?” Gavin asks, my gaze darting back over to his.
My lips part, eyes widening slightly in surprise. “Me?” I ask, raising a hand up to point at myself like a dumbass.
They both chuckle. “Listen, we’re men who know what we want,” Brady responds.
I stare at him in confusion with a furrowed brow. “And it’s me?” I question, the spell breaking enough for me to snort out a laugh. “Baby, you don’t even know my name.”
“I do,” Gavin says proudly.
God, he’s so adorable. How is a badass-looking, tattooed man so cute?
“Then do me a favor, and tell me the name of my new Omega?” Brady grins.
This is stupid. I shouldn’t be falling for this.
Yet, I can’t help the smile on my lips.
I don’t get any warning bells or weird feelings when I'm around them. Do I believe what they’re saying? I’d be a fool to say yes. But I’d be lying to myself if I denied that everything about this day has made me feel things I never thought I would.
Free. Happy. And hopeful. That's something I haven't felt before.
“Cute,” I chuckle. “Does that line work on every Omega?”
“Don’t know. Never used it before.” He raises a brow. “But is it working on this one?”
“A little.” I giggle. “Name’s Lucy, but you can call me Lulu.”
“Lulu,” he purrs, my name never sounding so good on someone's tongue, and it makes me shiver. “Lulu, doll face, do us both a favor and put us out of our misery by at least giving us the chance to show you we could be good for you.”
“You don’t even know me.” I feel like I’ve said it a million times already. Yet, here we are.
“Then give us a chance to,” Gavin insists.
“Believe me when I say, this isn’t like us.
We’re not normally people who act before thinking, but I can tell you with certainty that the moment we looked over and saw you on the side of the road, blonde hair glowing in the setting sun, looking like an angel plucked from the sky just for us, we were drawn to you.
Something was screaming at us to go to you.
We can all agree we’re not scent matched, but there is a pull. This… connection I can’t explain.”
“I feel it too.” Brady’s voice is nothing but a low rumble. “I have to get to know you, Lulu. I think I might die if I don’t.”
“So dramatic.” I can’t help but joke, because damn it, Gavin’s words have my head spinning because I feel it too. This powerful pull that has me more confused than anything. “Fine. If you must get to know me, I’ll give you a chance.”
“Yeah?” Brady’s face morphs into one with a boyish charm.
“Yes.” I laugh. “Still, I’m not going to forget that this is all weird. We’re strangers–”
“Not for long.” Gavin grins.
“And you’re bikers.” I shoot him a look, finishing my sentence that he interrupted.
“Very sexy, smooth, tattooed bikers,” Brady points out playfully.
“That being said, wanna tell me what kind of danger I’ll be in once we go through those doors?
” I ask, nodding my head towards the closed gate.
“Strangely, I feel safe with the two of you, but I don’t know what to expect from anyone else I encounter.
I’m not stupid enough to think that the members of your club are some big softies, who go to church on Sunday and help little old ladies cross the street. ”
“You feel that way because you are safe with us.” Brady’s expression darkens. “You have nothing to fear, Lulu. No one will hurt you when you're with us. I can promise you that. None of our brothers will touch you.”
And strangely still, I believe every word.
“Okay.” I nod, agreeing too easily but not seeming to care. “Okay, I believe you.” And I hope I don’t regret it.
“Also, we do go to church.” He grins widely. “Just not the one you're thinking of.”
“Hey,” Gavin pops into the conversation. “I can confirm that I very much do help little old ladies cross the street, thank you very much.”
I blink at his pouting face in surprise before bursting out into laughter.
Yeah, I need to get to know these guys better, to spend more time with them because I know with every bone in my body, I want them in my life. Maybe even need them.
For the first time in a very long time, I feel a spark of hope that maybe I can have that life I’ve always dreamed of. The one I’ve been hoping will help me move on and forget about her .
So that's why I take Brady’s hand and let him help me off the bike. “Okay, biker boy. Let’s go have some fun.”
You know when you read an MC book, and the main guys are usually a part of the good club; the one that, despite dealing in illegal activities, has respect, morals, and aren’t the monsters of the world?
Yeah, that's Steel Devils MC.
From the moment I stepped into the clubhouse, the big burly biker men have been nothing but welcoming, despite their appearance.
It took a little while and a few drinks for me to lose the nerves that had settled in my body, but having Brady and Gavin at my side helped.
“Put the cards down, Little Lady,” Brady whispers in my ear. I grin, shivering as his hot breath fans over the back of my neck.
I’m pretty tipsy right now and am having the time of my life. For the past hour, I’ve been sitting at a table playing poker with some of the members of the club, Gavin, and the twins' sister, Dakota.
Yeah, turns out they have a little sister my age. She’s an Alpha, and her pack is the prez and VP of the Steel Devils from a different chapter.
The guys seemed surprised to see her when we walked through the doors. At first, I felt jealousy, I had no right to feel when she threw herself into their arms. Watching them embrace made my stomach turn. She’s gorgeous. Tall, long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and legs for days.
Then the guys introduced me to her, letting me know she was their little sister. I felt like an idiot for how quickly I reacted.
