Story: Closing on Lynx (Royal Bastards MC: Northern , Ontario #1)
Lynx
Sleep evaded me as I knew it would, so now I have been sitting at my desk for the last several hours, trying to go over reports I can’t seem to focus on. My mind is on where Jessikah is, how she is doing and if she is okay, is she safe and protected.
The chiming of my phone has me looking at the message from Skoden. He’s heading back to the clubhouse and from the jest of the text, something is going on.
Skoden walks into my office less than fifteen minutes later and is already talking before he is fulling the room, “Pres, I don’t know what is going on at Tina’s residence, but if feels off.”
As Skoden lays out everything he witnessed, my stomach tightens. A dozen scenarios run through my mind, but before we can make any sense or discuss how to handle the whole situation, Sue pops up at my door.
“Pres, there is someone here to see you and the native motherfucker with braids in his hair. As he puts it,” Sue states, tapping the doorframe and walking back into the main room.
Pushing my chair back from the desk, I walk toward the door with Skoden following.
“We don’t have time for visitors. We got a huge fucking problem!” He states, as we walk to the front of the clubhouse. When we both enter, an old man turns and points at Skoden. “You bastard!” he shouts.
“What’s going on?” I ask, approaching the elderly man with my hand extended.
“He told me he would make the sex orgy stop. It’s still going on and they are starting to bring in more people!” he shouts, his hand going to his chest as the other one grips the top of his cane.
“I was watching the house for hours. I didn’t see anyone else go in,” Skoden says, as he starts to tap on the bar top. Three short, three long, three short.
The old man’s bushy brows furrow. “Son, why are you taping out S.O.S?” he asks, causing Skoden to stop and looks at the man.
“Fuck, I knew it meant something. Just after I met this man, was when I walked to the house and knocked on the door. Like I told you, Pres, the door opened and a scrawny man told me Tina was busy and then slammed the door in my face. From what I could see from the front door, nothing appeared out of place. Well, other than a stench I couldn’t place.
“Stench? What did it smell like?” Liquid asks, stepping closer to the scene that was unfolding.
“It smelt awful. I don’t know, like a skinned animal that was hung to dry. For all I know, the odor could have been coming from the man’s body who answered the door,” Skoden replied.
“Shit, those pops I told you about.” Skoden nods his head. “They could have been gunshots,” the man states, and the room goes wired.
“Damn, the lights I saw flick were the same pattern I tapped on the bar. There is someone in the house asking for help and I fucking left!” Skoden says, then screaming a litany of cuss words, turns toward the door.
“STOP!” I shout, catching Skoden’s attention. “You are one man. If what this man says is true, you are going to get yourself killed. We have to plan this and make sure we get everyone out alive and the only ones dead are the bad guys. Get it,” I say, my voice leaving no room for discussion.
“Skoden, did the guy happen to look like this?” Neo asks, coming forward with his laptop. He flips it around and shows him the image. When Skoden nods, Neo looks at me and loses the color in his face. “That’s Jessikah’s ex-husband.”
“How did he find out where she was?” I look at Neo. Praying to everything holy he hadn’t fucked up somehow and her coordinates got released.
“I fucking don’t know. When I found the information earlier, I left the room and told you. I slammed the folder on the bar top in front of you,” he says, trying to remember if he did anything else.
“Was there anyone in your room with you?” Slick asks, crossing his arms across his chest and narrowing his eyes.
“Shit, she was still in my room. I snuck her in and snuck her out. Fuck, she told me Jessikah was bad news and I needed to protect my family. The only person I needed to protect my family from was her. Son of a bitch.” Neo shouts and then starts to mumble about losing his patch and the only family he has over some cunt.
“Listen, go and find out when she sent the info and what account she used. We are going to need information on her for when the police get involved. But they won’t get involved until after I have Jessikah and Tina back,” I say.
Neo nods and goes and sits at the bar stool, taking his cut off and placing it beside him.
“Why is he taking his cut off?” Liquid asks, loud enough so the entire room hears.
“Because I need to earn that and your trust back. And I will,” he states and starts tapping away on his computer.
“Sir, we will take care of the things that are going on in the house across the street.” He reaches his hand out and touches my shoulder.
“Please get those women out of there, and safely. I’ll be watching you.” He turns and hobbles out the door, shaking Skoden’s hand on the way out.
“We need a plan. Can someone get on the phone with Viking from the Crowns of Chaos out of New York and see how fast he can get people up here. If her ex is bringing in his gang, then we need to make sure we have the numbers to counter their force.”
“We also need to let the Montreal Chapter know, just in case,” Sue states, leading us into the meeting area.
***
“Okay, so Viking has flown Rough, Commando and Prince up to us. Skoden is on his way to collect them from the base. Montreal is aware, and they back our plan. We leave when Skoden gets back, until then stay clean and sober. If the police get involved, we need to have our wits about us,” I state and look at the gun I have in front of me.
Luckily, I kept my prohibited gun license up to date after I finished with the police force.
Sometimes getting hurt in the line of duty was a blessing, put most of the time it’s just been a curse.
Fallen hero turns to a life of crime. That’s the type of bullshit I have read.
“I want in on the raid,” Liquid states, placing her hands on the map.
“I know, I know. I’m the cleaner but think about it.
You know they’ve been going at those two girls.
They will be getting tired. I’m female, and I can play weak.
Not to mention, the girls might want to see another familiar female face. ”
“She has a point. We need someone on the inside who can set up things. We all know she can fight, and we know she knows how to take down a man by blinking her fucking eyes. We need her on the inside. That and it will allow us to know if they need more attention than what we are prepared for,” Brownie mumbles.
He brought up something that I knew was more than a possibility, but I was denying the fact that my woman, Jessikah, may not even be alive.
This fucker has already tried to kill her on multiple occasions.
He has a reason to now, though. She put him behind bars when she ran.
Men like him can’t live knowing a woman took them down. Jessikah’s ex would be out for blood.
“Pres. Are you prepared? We could be walking into a bloodbath,” Pure asks. Everyone’s staring at me. Am I ready to walk in there knowing the possibility of Jessikah being dead is extremely high? No.
“Prepared? For bringing down a woman abusing piece of shit and the minions who follow him blindly. Hell, fucking yes. I will deal with the rest after,” I state, knowing full well this style of coping is horrible and can lead to so many issues after the fact.
It’s something I need to do to keep my focus on getting everyone going in—out alive.
“The prospects, Neo and Pigeon you stay here on standby. If we need help, someone will call you. But I need to make sure the clubhouse is protected. The rest of us, as soon as Skoden is back with the Chaos trio we will load up and head over. Until then, gentlemen, stay alert.” I tap the table and turn to leave the room.
The only way I am going to get through the next however many hours is by believing no matter what they are putting Jessikah through, she is fighting to stay alive.
