Fucking asshole.
Forty-Four
HIM
I’ve never wanted to hit a brother more than I do in this moment.
Including Talon.
Because as Rudy is signing away in utter frustration about having just learned from Maddox that he’s to marry Micha’s sister, I can smell my wife’s increasing arousal. I can hear the vibrations of her nipple clamps, the soft moans she’s trying to bite down even behind the closed door of the bathroom. If I knew this was what Rudy wanted to talk to me about, I never would’ve answered the door.
But Rudy is like a son to me, and I’m always worrying about him given how his innate magic works. He’s assaulted by everyone’s fears, their worries and paranoia. We are all wolves in sheep’s clothing, ready to turn on our allies at the smallest opportunity; being around us will not be easy for him. He’ll have night terrors tonight. Maybe even for a full week, a month.
And when he’s that beaten down, that exhausted from lack of sleep, his magic is harder for him to control. He’ll have to isolate himself, step into the Plane of Shadows so no one’s fears will come alive. The last time he had to do that, he was gone for months. His fear of being forgotten in that dark hole full of monsters is still capable of affecting Khalid from all that way, so he can’t come back until he’s able to control it.
It breaks my fucking heart, knowing that my desire to marry Micha and his desire to be my best man will lead to all that suffering, which is the only reason I haven’t shut the door in his face.
But fuck, I can hear her moans getting louder.
“You knew you would have to marry one day,” I cut in.
“But she doesn’t even know sign language!” he signs in exasperation.
“You have six years before you wed. She can learn in that time.”
“What would we even talk about? I’m almost double her age.”
“Twenty-six to her sixteen is hardly double –”
“Fucking close enough.”
“– and by the time she’s of age, you’ll be thirty-two. Half plus seven. You’re fine.”
He glares at me. Half plus seven is the equation we all decided on when we were discussing age gap relationships at some random point in time. You take half the age of a person, then add seven, and that’s the youngest they can date without it being creepy.
“Well, what if I’m gay?” he finally says, and at any other time, I’d be proud he’s finally come out to me. But one, I’ve known for years. And two, his whining is cockblocking me.
“You don’t have to have sex to have kids these days. Come in a cup, and we’ll sort the rest out.” I start to shut the door as the smell of Micha’s arousal fills my lungs.
His jaw locks as he sticks his foot out. “It won’t be fair to her to be stuck in a marriage with someone who could never love her.”
“Would you rather marry Vlad?” I sign in exasperation, needing to get this conversation over with before she comes.
He freezes. His jaw goes slack. He knew I knew he was gay, but he didn’t know I’ve known he’s been fucking the vampire for the last two years.
“Think about it,” I say as I shut the door in his face, then stride towards the ensuite. I try the handle, but it’s locked.
“Baby, open the door,” I demand.
She whimpers, and I can hear the wet slurp of a toy as it slides in and out of her.
“Micha.”
I rattle the handle, but I don’t force my way in. I can sense her heartbeat is lower than my cock, and I can hear the nails of her hand scraping into the wood of the door. She must be facing me as she rides a dildo suctioned to the tile floor.
“Let me in, baby. I can make you feel so much better than that damn toy.”
She presses the control on the vibrating clamps and cries out.
