KAYLEIGH
“ I s this dress maybe a little too much for the ceremony?” I ask, walking into Kayden’s room as I smooth down the navy floral lace over my stomach.
Kayden glances over his shoulder at me with wide eyes that almost melt down his face. “Fucking hell,” he groans. “No. You look incredible. Ugh.”
I suck in a breath and nod. “Okay. Good.”
My hands move to my hair as I gently twist out the curly ends and adjust the black bow in the back. I follow Kayden’s body with my eyes as I study him in his white shirt and navy pants.
I walk directly towards him, black heels clicking against the floor. “And you are looking far too delicious for your own good.”
“Delicious, huh?” He smirks.
My arms wrap around his neck as I tug him towards me, and his hands press to the curves of my hips. I nod and bite down on my bottom lip. “Yeah,” I whisper. “Not sure how I’m going to keep my hands off you.”
He chuckles, and his dimples are on full display. “Trust me, I feel the same.”
One step backwards, and my spine is firmly against the wall next to his bed. I tilt my head to meet his eyes and the fire that burns there. “It’s a special day for us. It’s not every day you get asked to be official Goddessparents. As weird as that is to say,” I whisper against his lips. “I guess we’ll have to celebrate after.”
Kayden grins devilishly. “Fuck yeah.” He presses a quick kiss to my lips. “Which reminds me.”
He walks away, leaving me against the wall as he digs through his drawers until he pulls out a box. My brows crease with curiosity until he turns to face me. I stare down at the object in his hands to find a picture of an eight-inch silicone pink dildo on the front.
“What the hell is that?” I ask a little breathlessly.
“A dildo.”
“I can see that.”
“Then why did you ask?”
“Don’t be smart,” I say as my eyes flick from the box to Kayden’s playful face. “I’m just startled by its arrival.”
“Startled because I bought you a sex toy? Come on, blondie. We already spoke about this.”
Heat creeps up my neck, and I press my fingers to the tender flesh. “Yeah, but I thought we were joking.”
“About your pleasure?” He pulls a dumbfounded expression. “Never.”
My throat tenses as I look back down at the picture of it. “Did it have to be eight inches?”
“Had to get it as close as the real thing.”
I roll my eyes with a growing smile. “You wish,” I tease.
Kayden walks towards me and grips my chin between his fingers. “Don’t make me use this on you now.”
“We’ll be late,” I gasp.
“Exactly.” His eyes flare.
“Later,” I say with a little tremble. “We’ll play later.”
Kayden’s eye drops into a wink. “We sure will.”
I raise my hands to adjust his tie. “I’m looking forward to today,” I say, shaking off my inappropriate thoughts. “And actually, I also bought you a gift.”
His brows crease as I step away and reach into my bag. “You did?”
“Yeah.” I smile as I grab the little box and turn back to face him. “It’s only something small, but I thought it would be nice to remember this day, especially knowing we’re doing it together.”
I thrust the box into Kayden’s hand, and he flicks it open with his thumb. My lip worms its way between my teeth as I watch his reaction with apprehension. He pulls out the gold bracelet with a small oval shape on the chain with a message.
The day we became Goddessparents.
The engraving is small, but with his vision, he’ll be able to see it from a mile away. His smile takes over his gorgeous face, and those dimples make my heart flutter.
“Thank you.” He glances up at me with adoration in his eyes. “This is so sweet.”
I flash him my wrist quickly to show him the same gold bracelet. “Well, I got us matching ones. It’s probably silly, but today is important, and I saw them personalising them in town and thought about you, us, and everything.”
“I love it,” he grumbles in awe before cupping my cheek and kissing me. “Thank you.”
My cheeks heat as I kiss him back. “You’re welcome. I’m excited to be a part of your world and be involved in this.”
“Me, too.” He nods as he reaches for my hand and presses his mouth to my knuckles. “It’ll be nice for you to spend time with our pack, but Jaxon’s also invited members of the new pack, too, to help them meet more people in our district. It’s going to be a good day.”
“Oh, the new pack is coming? That’s nice.”
Kayden steps back and reaches for his blazer hanging up in his wardrobe. “Yeah, we’re trying our hardest to help them settle into their new life. It’s what this district did for us, and we want to return the favour. Jaxon gave me the role of helping them out, and it’s important to me, so I’m taking it as seriously as possible.”
“Aww.” I grin as he meets me by the door. “You guys are sweet. You’re a good Beta. They’re all very lucky to have you.”
He chuckles softly. “I try to be. Do you remember the extra training sessions I’ve been doing with those who need the support?”
I nod. “Yeah, you’re helping them to build confidence, right?”
“Yeah, well, I’ve been thinking about doing other sessions to help different people.”
“Like what?”
“Self-defence for women,” I start. “Mobility for our older wolves. Beginner classes for children. I want to include everyone in what I’m doing and see if I can help in any way.”
My eyes soften as he speaks. My selfless man wanting the best for everyone.
“You should,” I encourage him. “If it’s something you’re passionate about, then you should do it. I know how much this job and the pack mean to you.”
“Yeah,” he rasps. “I’ve been thinking about it since Jaxon’s taken a lot of his duties back now Aurora is a little older, and I have the time, but?—”
I take his hand, giving it a supportive squeeze. “What are you worried about?”
“Overloading myself and balancing my time, especially with you.”
“Well,” I lean in to kiss him, “I’m more than happy to spend more time here at the house. I’d love to see you in action. I’d love to see what you do best. I’d also like to help where I can. This is your life, and I want to be involved as much as possible.”
Kayden’s eyes glimmer for a moment as he studies me. “Yeah?” he murmurs against my lips. “You want to be involved?”
“Yes.” I grin. “I’d really, really like that. If you’d want me to.”
“Of course.” He wraps an arm around my waist and tugs me closer. “There’s nothing I’d want more.”
“Okay. Then that’s settled.”
Our fingers thread through each other’s as we head downstairs to where Ava, Jaxon, Lucy, and Sebastian are waiting with their children. Aurora looks adorable in her pink dress and flower crown. My heart clenches at the sight of her.
“Ahhhh.” Ava claps her hands together. “There they are.”
I wave a hand at the room, walk over to see Aurora in Jaxon’s arms, and run the edge of my finger over her cheek as she flashes me a gummy smile. “So beautiful.”
“The ceremony will be close family only,” Ava says as she grabs her bag. “And then the party afterwards will be with everyone else.”
Kayden nods. “Sounds good to me.”
“Let’s go,” Jaxon says sternly. “We don’t wanna be late.”
The ceremony was beautiful, and I only cried twice. It’s a miracle it wasn’t more.
The best part? Having Kayden there beside me every step of the way.
We’re Aurora’s Goddessparents, and it warms my heart in more ways than I can understand. The room was filled with love for that little girl, and I’m so blessed to have that bundle of joy in my life.
I will support her and be there for her in any way I can. Those are the promises I made today, and I refuse to break them.
When we reach the grand hall for Aurora’s party, I’m floored by the turnout. I underestimated how many people were in their pack and more.
At some point, I lose Kayden, and I find myself at the bar.
The hairs on the back of my neck stand when I turn to find a blond boy perched at the counter beside me. I’ve seen him around briefly before, but I’ve never fully introduced myself.
“Hey.” I smile at him when I notice his gaze resting on my champagne glass. “Would you like one?”
“Um,” he says softly. “Sure, thanks.”
I ask for another from the bartender and turn to him with the flute.
“You’re Kayden’s girlfriend, right?”
“Yeah, I am.” I grin.
“You guys look cute together.”
“Thanks. How do you guys know each other?”
The boy clears his throat. “Jaxon and Kayden basically saved me from hell. I live with them now. I’d probably be dead otherwise.”
My heart thrashes in my chest at his saddened words. “What’s your name?”
“Evan.”
“I’m Kayleigh.” I hold out my hand, and he takes it delicately.
“Nice to meet you,” he says, his eyes flicking down to my nose ring. “I like your piercing. I’ve always wanted to get mine done, but I’ve never really had the chance.”
My lips part. “You should get it done! It would look so good on you.”
Evan’s eyes light up a little. “I don’t know any piercing shops.”
“There is a really cool one by my university. I’ve had a few ear piercings from there.”
“You’d take me?” His voice sounds hopeful.
“Sure.” I nod.
“Do you think guys would like it on me?”
I nod instantly. “Hell, yeah. Everyone thinks piercings are hot. Any guy would think so.”
Evan’s eyes light up a little. “Okay. Let’s do it.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Kayden says as he wraps an arm around my shoulder.
My head twists towards him slowly. “Just that I’m going to take Evan to get his first piercing.”
Kayden’s brows raise to his hairline. “That’s cool.”
Evan pats his pockets and then points towards another table. “I’ll go get my phone so I can grab your number,” he says hurriedly.
My lips twitch. “He’s really sweet.”
“Yeah, he’s been through a lot. Think he’s finally managing to settle here.”
“How old is he?”
“Eighteen.”
“He seemed nervous. I better go see if he’s found his phone,” I say as I slip from beneath Kayden’s arm.
“Hurry back,” Kayden says with a playful expression.
As I turn around, he slaps his hand down onto my ass, and the sound echoes off the walls loudly, causing some people to turn and look at us.
I gape back at him in horror, but he grins wildly at me, not giving a single shit if anyone else saw or heard.
“You’re playing with fire,” I rasp under my breath.
“Trust me. I want to get burnt.”
My stomach ties in knots at how happily he can show everyone I’m his.
And God, do I love it.
