Page 143 of A Summoned Husband
He grinned, his hand held out to me.
“What?” I asked.
“Come. Dance with your husband.” On queue, the sound of stringed instruments filled the air.
My brow cocked. “Is this part of your powers?”
He pointed past me to the speaker on my shelf. “Alicia calls it Alexa. Though I don’t fully understand how it works, I don’t believe it is magic.”
I laughed, shaking my head as I slipped my hand into his and threw the other over his shoulder. We moved slowly, his hand wrapped around my waist as he led me around the room.
“Did I tell you how beautiful you look today?” His hand grazed the small of my back so lightly it made me shiver.
I smiled, turning my face up to look at him. “More times than I can count, but I never really get tired of hearing it.”
“Well then, you look beautiful, my wife.” He dipped me, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that made me gasp. He held my gaze until he dropped his face and pressed his lips lightly to my throat.
The kiss was featherlight but it heated my blood. My grip on his hand tightened as he pressed another kiss under my chin making a small moan escape me.
“That sound…” He pressed his lips against my skin again. “I would live inside it if I could.”
My back pressed against the floor and my eyes opened. I didn’t know just when I closed them, but now I looked up at Asmodeus who knelt between my knees, my dress bunched up to make room for him. One hand was planted beside me while the other cupped the back of my head, cushioning it from the floor.
“Just how long will I crave you, I wonder. How long will I drink from your lips and still feel thirsty? Still feel like I need more so I can catch my breath? You have quickly become the blood in my veins. My existence without you feels impossible.”
Those damn butterflies again. They woke up, going crazy in my stomach.
His bottom lip pulled into his teeth, putting his long and pointed canines on display. “I will never get enough of you, will I?”
“Fuck, I hope not.”
His hand moved along the side of my dress and I heard the fabric tear.
“Asmodeus!”
He grinned. “It’s merely fabric.”
“My wedding dress!”
“Hmm. And if it pleases you, I will buy you a dozen others but right now, it’s in the way.”
The warmth of his hand glided up the inside of my thigh pouring that blissful heat I knew now was part of his sin through my skin and all thoughts of my dress disappeared. He could burn the whole thing to ash for all I cared, as long as it meant he would touch more of me. Inside my chest thrummed the way it had countless times before. In the way I didn’t quite understand.
I wrapped my hand around his wrist, twisting my head to free his hand from behind it. I placed it against my chest as I shimmied my hips, impatience getting the best of me. The question that had been itching at my mind since I went up against Maledictia needed to be asked. I felt I knew the answer but it was just too bizarre to believe without hearing it from him.
“What is this?” I knew it had something to do with him. My chest didn’t practically vibrate before there was a key in it. Before I was married to a demon, it was normal. Before I clutched a heart to my chest in my mind.
“We’re excited… for good reason.”
“Mhmm… but what does that have to do with this?”
“I make your heart race.” He shoved my skirt up to my waist and slipped his fingers into the crotch of my panties. “And you quicken mine.”
It was hard to understand him with his fingers working me over. “What?”
“My heart lives in your chest now.” I was going to need to take a class. There needed to be an Introduction to Being A Demon Wife 101. As it stood, every bit of information I received made my thoughts jumbled and confused. As his fingers dipped into me, I decided to leave brainstorming class schedules for later.
There’s a time and a place, Eden.
