Page 12 of A Summoned Husband
The urge to push the hair away filled me and I groaned.
I needed to get out of here. I needed to put as much space between this mortal female and myself as I could before whatever the hell kind of magic they used further fogged my mind.
My eyes looked down at her face, half hidden from my view.
“Sweet Lucifer,” I groaned.
I would set her in her bed and then be gone from this place.
Moving down the hall, I glanced at the room she dragged the others to. The bed was filled with women, some hanging off the edges. There was no space for her among them. They barely fit as it was. Frowning, I looked down the hall toward the stairs.
There must be more rooms in a house this size.
Going upstairs, I cradled her close to my chest.
She was warm, not as warm as me, but warm enough. Her breathing was slow, gentle. It was almost painful watching the slow rise and fall of her chest. The slight part of her lips drew my attention and made me wonder just what she tasted like.
Would her lips be as tormented as her blood? Would the tender flesh taste of a forbidden sin I never thought existed before this night?
The questions danced through my mind as I pushed open the first door. Relief filled me at the sight of a bed in the room. I carried her, laying her gently among the obnoxious amount of pillows before I reached out a hesitant hand.
Get out of here, Asmodeus.
But I couldn’t.
I did what I knew I shouldn’t. I brushed the hair away from her face.
Staring at her, I felt in a trance. Sinking onto the bed, I rested my palms on both sides of her face and simply stared.
There was something about this mortal female.
My fingers with long black nails reached out. My thumb dragged down her bottom lip, further parting them.
Just a taste.
A depraved mind like mine needed at least that. Needed to see what happened to this odd tightness in my chest when I got the small teasing of those lips. Leaning in, I pressed my lips to hers.
Time stopped and sped up. My heart raced and stopped. All the fires in my veins surged through me, targeting my heart and loins. Growling, I pulled away.
“Fuck!” I hissed and paced the room.
This was sorcery. This was magic of the blackest and most foul. This was something the devil herself cooked up to torment me.
My eyes moved to the window, looking out into the dark.
The book.
Somewhere in those woods were all the answers I was looking for. In those woods was the very book that would explain it all to me.
My finger ran along the length of my bottom lip, the taste of her a ghost that haunted all my senses. Eyes rolled back, I reached down and cupped the thickness of me, buried in fur. In the thick of my lust, my sin enveloped me, carrying me to my desires. No sooner had my hands wrapped around my throbbing length, I found myself in the woods, staring down at the very book that had brought about all my troubles.
I scooped it up.
Such an ordinary thing that brought me through time, across space, out of my realm. I held the leather in my hand, marvelling at the feel of it, worn with age. I brought the edge of the book up to my nose, inhaling its scent. I knew the smell, it surrounded me every day.
It was darkness. It was mayhem. It was home.
With a heave of breath, I flipped through the book.
