Story: A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
“The little bit we’ve been sleeping,” Chloë retorted.
“Har-di-har-har,” Morgan sniped. Nonetheless her clit did just twitch because, sure enough, her and Chloë have been having a lot of sex.
“Let’s mix it up,” Chloë suggested. “Let’s start not getting much sleep at my place more often.”
Morgan liked that idea. She liked the thought of spending nights in that super-cool and cozy tiny house.
“Deal,” she said, but then frowned. “Wait, what about your parents?”
Chloë looked at her.
“What about them?”
“Do they mind if you have, you know…overnight guests?”
“I’m sure they won’t,” Chloë said. “But they’re going to want to call your parents to make sure it’s okay with them.”
“Oh, sure, that makes sen—Oh, fuck you!”
Chapter 25
“…and so anyway, as the wisest lesbian I know, I figured you can tell me what it means.”
Chloë stared at Vanessa, waiting for her boss’s insight.
Vanessa, meanwhile, was pinching the bridge of her nose, her eyes squeezed shut, looking as if she was trying to cope with a migraine.
“I swear to god, I’m going to kill you,” she muttered.
It was Friday afternoon and they were in La Vida Mocha’s back room while Amber and Luli manned the front of the shop. Chloë’s shift was over and she was anxious to get home, shower and finish some homework for her business courses before Morgan arrived but she also wanted to talk to Vanessa.
Chloë and Morgan hadn’t seen each other since waking up together on Thursday morning because Morgan had spent last night having dinner with her parents up in Irvine. Chloë had used the night to herself to catch up on some studying and to binge-watch her new favorite Netflix series.
But she had also spent a good portion of last night thinking about that mini-freak-out Morgan had had on Wednesday regarding her turning forty before Chloë turned thirty.
Morgan’s fortieth was years away still, so why did she care that she’d reach that milestone before Chloë reached the big three-oh? Unless, of course, Morgan was already planning on still being with Chloë at that time? Was that possible?
Chloë wanted to believe that Morgan was thinking that far ahead in terms of their relationship—or if not thinking about it, was at least considering it a possibility. And even if that was the case, Chloë was thrilled.
Because Chloë definitely considered it a possibility.
She totally could imagine helping Morgan celebrate her fortieth birthday and then waking up next to Morgan on her own thirtieth birthday.
But was that was Morgan was thinking?
And that had been the question on Chloë’s mind much of last night. And when she had gone to bed, she had been no closer to answering it, which meant that today she had naturally brought the question to the wisest lesbian she knew: Vanessa.
“How the hell am I supposed to know, Chloë?”
“Because you’re Vanessa!” Chloë exclaimed, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet with anticipation. “You know stuff!”
Vanessa sighed.
“Okay, well, if you really want to know, my answer is, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”
Chloë blinked, having no idea what the hell Vanessa was talking about. The wise could be very cryptic.
“What does that mean?”
