Story: A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
Using the excuse of needing to adjust a throw pillow she was leaning against, Morgan repositioned herself so that the disturbing contact with Naomi’s foot was broken. Then she took a sip of wine to calm herself.
“Okay, so what’s wrong?” Naomi asked.
How to begin?
“Okay, um…something strange has been happening to me,” Morgan said.
Naomi nodded, encouraging her friend to continue.
“The past few days, I’ve been having these…feelings.”
“Feelings. Gotcha.”
“I’ve never had these feelings before and quite frankly they’re freaking me out.”
“Freaking you out. Gotcha.”
Morgan took another sip of the strong Burgundy. God, she was going to suffer tomorrow morning. A sick day might be in order.
“I’ve been feeling very, very attracted to someone I shouldn’t be attracted to,” she said.
Naomi frowned.
“God, Morgan…not a student!”
“No! Dear god, no! I would never!”
Naomi let out a relieved breath but then gestured for Morgan to go on.
Unto the breach…
“I’m attracted to a woman
, Naomi. Like, very, very attracted to a woman.”
Naomi blinked and her mouth dropped open. Then she took a gulp of her wine.
“Um…wow!” Naomi began. “That is so totally not what I expected you to say.”
“And so totally not what I ever expected to say,” Morgan replied.
“Okay…well, let’s start with who.”
Morgan swallowed.
“Chloë Marchand.”
“Chloë…Chloë…” It took a moment but then Naomi made the connection. “From La Vida Mocha? Holy shit! You dog!”
“Shut up!” Morgan wailed. “There’s nothing dog-like about it!”
“Okay, you need to start spilling. Like, now!” Naomi ordered.
***
When Morgan was done recapping the past couple of days, leaving out no detail, she didn’t know what to expect from Naomi. In fact, Morgan was kind of worried that Naomi—an out and proud, die-hard lesbian—would be offended somehow, that Naomi would think that Morgan was not taking what it meant to be attracted to women seriously.
But instead, Naomi reached out and gently laid her hand on Morgan’s knee.
