Story: A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
“Nope!” Chloë confirmed, giggling when Morgan groaned in response. “So, what do I need to know about Naomi?”
“Trying to get my mind out of the gutter?” Morgan inquired.
“Only until I want it in the gutter, and we have all night after dinner for that.”
“Fine. Naomi is also a teacher; history.”
“Hmm, I wonder if I can casually work the Battle of Hastings into our conversation?”
“If you can, she’ll love you,” Morgan replied.
“What about her girlfriend?”
“No idea; I’ve never met her.”
“A-ha! So, I’m not the only one on audition!”
Morgan sent an air kiss Chloë’s way.
“You’re not on audition and even if you were, it wouldn’t matter. The whole world could hate you but I’d still be dying to see you after only an hour apart.”
Chloë gasped.
“Dude, that is seriously the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me!”
She wanted to leap into Morgan’s lap and kiss her senseless but wasn’t sure how that would affect her girlfriend’s driving.
She noticed Morgan blushing.
“Stop! I’m sure you’ve been told more romantic things,” Morgan said.
“Sorry, Miss Banks, you win the Most Romantic Thing Said to Me award,” Chloë retorted and then decided to put Morgan’s driving skills to the test anyway. Leaning over, she gently grasped Morgan’s earlobe with her teeth, swirling her tongue around the soft flesh. Morgan’s breath hitched in response but the car wavered not one bit.
“Oh, fuck, Chloë…” she whimpered.
After releasing the earlobe, Chloë whispered, “I also miss you when we’re not together.”
***
Naomi and Naomi’s girlfriend were already at the seafood restaurant when Chloë and Morgan arrived. Chloë had seen Naomi many times at the Lesbeans events at La Vida Mocha and had always been attracted to her, and she knew the attraction had been mutual for all the times Chloë could remember catching Naomi checking her out also, although Chloë was sure none of that would be discussed tonight.
Turns out Naomi’s girlfriend was named Deb and if Chloë had to guess, was about forty-ish, with sandy brown hair. Compared to Naomi’s femme elegance, though, Deb was rather…sensible: Sensible flat loafers, sensible trousers, sensible blouse that gave nothing away about her figure. She seemed the personification of the word beige.
After introductions had been made, Deb’s first words to Chloë were, “My, you’re young!”
Chloë nodded.
“I know, I tried to get my parents to conceive me ten years earlier but they told me they just weren’t ready to start a family yet.”
/> Morgan and Naomi broke into laughter at the joke but Deb seemed to need a moment to piece it all together before finally laughing somewhat mirthlessly; a very beige laughter.
Their party was sat at a table offering a great view of the lights along the coastline and the moonlit surf of the Pacific. The server immediately took their cocktails order and Chloë was the only one carded which made her suddenly feel self-conscious. After the server left, Chloë shook her head and said, “Rookie mistake.”
The other women all looked at her.
“What do you mean?” Morgan asked.
Chloë explained.
