Story: A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance
“Why can’t we just say for now that I found a person, and the person happens to be a woman?” she replied. “Why does what I’m going through have to be labeled?”
Naomi cocked an eyebrow.
“That’s all very mature and new age and all that,” she said. “But you and I both know that’s not the way the world works. People see you with a woman, bam, you’re a lesbian or bi. You’re going to get a label whether you want one or not. Besides, you need to think about Chloë in all this too.”
Morgan frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“Chloë may be young but I’m sure she’s not stupid,” Naomi began. “She recognizes that she just had sex with a supposedly straight woman, and take my word for it, she’s thinking about that. I’ll clue you in on a little secret. A lot of us lesbians have been burned at some point by straight women who wanted to dilly-dally on the other side just to see what it’s like. Eventually, Chloë is going to want to know what label you are putting on yourself so that she has an idea of how much she’s willing to invest in this relationship.”
Damn, she’s right!
Morgan resolved to have that discussion with Chloë. But…she was also having trouble believing that Chloë wanted a relationship. After all, Chloë was so young still, why would she want to hitch her wagon to one woman now, especially one significantly older?
The bigger question is, do I want a relationship? With a woman?
It was too soon to determine that, she decided. Way too soon. Instead, she had another sip of the white wine she and Naomi had been sharing during lunch.
Chapter 19
That afternoon, when Chloë’s managerial shift at La Vida Mocha ended, she drove home still feeling the natural high she had been on since leaving Morgan’s. Her co-workers today, Luli and Amber had noticed how energetically bubbly Chloë had been and Luli had even guessed that a new woman was the cause of it. But Chloë had offered no details, not wanting to jinx anything. Vanessa she’d talk to about Morgan; Vanessa was, after all, the wisest lesbian Chloë knew. And she’d most likely talk about Morgan to Sienna too, but that was because she and Sienna talked about everything, even other women.
I had sex with Miss Banks!
This had been the repeating thought in Chloë’s head all through her shift at the coffeeshop, so much so that when a customer asked her how she was doing toda
y, Chloë almost said it out loud. She had gotten as far as “I had” when the editing function of her brain finally kicked in, allowing her to quickly change her sentence to “I had…a headache earlier but now it’s gone.”
Last night and this morning had been amazing experiences, not only because it was a dream come true that Chloë had gotten to fuck that particular woman, but because as it turned out, Morgan was an incredible lover. Okay, Chloë reasoned, maybe there were one or two things that needed improvement but who cares? Even at her young age, Chloë knew that sex with a new woman always meant adjustments were needed. But for a woman who had never had sex with another woman, Morgan had made fireworks go off between Chloë’s legs and starbursts to explode behind her eyelids. Not only that, but Morgan had kept up with Chloë’s appetite last night. They had fucked well past midnight, Morgan often demanding “More!” even after Chloë had coaxed yet another climax from her.
Her center started tingling now as she remembered all of this and she shook her head to clear it of thoughts of how Morgan tasted, those gorgeous breasts with their dark nipples, the sounds she made as she got close to coming…
Fuck!
Chloë shook her head again. She needed to focus on driving!
What Chloe didn’t know was what was going to happen between her and Morgan now?
What do I want to happen?
The sexual chemistry alone was enough to make Chloë want to continue seeing Morgan but Chloë realized that she also just enjoyed being with Morgan—with clothes on. Morgan’s company made Chloë happy.
But what did Morgan want?
Chloë had no idea. In fact, she had no idea if Morgan felt her foray into lesbian sex was now over, the experiment completed, despite her assurances to the opposite this morning. Even the possibility of that being true was making Chloë sad now which in turn made her instinct for self-preservation kick in.
Chloë sucked her bottom lip between her teeth.
Perhaps it would be best if she just assumed for the time being that Morgan wouldn’t really want to have anything serious with her. After all, Morgan was older; not only that, Morgan was more accomplished—didn’t she even say something about going for a promotion at Barrington Woods? Would Morgan really consider Chloë girlfriend material, even if Morgan decided that, yes, she was in fact a lesbian? Wouldn’t Morgan prefer to be with a woman closer to her own age who didn’t live in her parents’ backyard?
Besides, Chloë hadn’t heard from Morgan all day while she was at work.
If constantly checking her phone was capable of actually manifesting text messages, then Chloë would have gotten about a kajillion texts from Morgan during her shift, but instead she had not gotten a single one. What did that mean?
Before she had an opportunity to unpack that, her phone rang with a call from Lexx just as she was pulling into her driveway. She pressed the answer button on the Volkswagen’s steering wheel.
“Hey, Lexx!”
