Page 154 of Unhinged Obsession
I could hardly make out the silhouette of my hand until my eyes adjusted to the vast darkness.
I turned to my left and saw Becca passed out on another mattress stuffed into the corner across from me. The faint sound of her breathing filled the creepyroom. I pulled myself into a sitting position as best as I could.
The drug made me a little wonky, so I sat for a few minutes while the fog cleared from my brain. I noticed there was a toilet and a sink in the corner. I shook my head, trying to clear the buzzing noise in my ears.
We were definitely in a jail cell, but why?
My clothes were still on, thank God. I stood on shaky legs, fearing they would give out on me, and I would face plant across the floor. Feeling slightly off balance, I slowly approached the bars, grabbing them with my sweaty, slippery hands. I felt like I was sucking on a wad of cotton balls; my tongue was dry and cracked.
"Hello. Hello, is anyone here?"
I yelled, trying to gather some saliva in my mouth.
Nothing. The silence was deafening.
You could hear a pin drop aside from my echo bouncing off the walls and Becca's breathing.
I scoped out the surrounding area, noticing the cameras pinned to the ceiling above us. The little green blinking light added nothing to the surrounding darkness. The cell was dim and dank, a place where nightmares lived.
I jumped up in front of the cameras, clumsily waving my hands, hoping whoever was on the other side would respond.
"I know someone can see me. Let us out of here!" I screamed—still nothing but Becca's light snoring and my wildly beating heart drumming in my ears.
Before I could think about what transpired earlier at my house, I heard a door open and slam; a loud echo permeated my eardrums. I hurried back to themattress and sat down. I didn't want to be near the bars if someone entered the cell.
I heard the faint sound of footsteps getting closer.
Tap, tap, tap.
I swallowed nervously, feeling my heart skip.
I was a wreck, not knowing where we were or who we would be dealing with.
You better have thick skin to handle what's coming.
The words played repeatedly in my mind. I didn't want to go there right now. I had enough to worry about.
My head snapped up when I heard the cell door open and close, making a loud clanging sound. I glanced over at Becca.
She was still out like a light.
I was surprised she hadn't woken up yet. I trained my eyes on the cell door, looking at the tall figure before me.
He looked like he was dressed for a business meeting. He wore a black suit with a blue tie and pricey black shoes.
I looked him over and noticed he was wearing an extremely expensive gold watch.
Atlas is wealthy, but this man smelled of money.
I felt self-conscious as he stared at me with empty, dead eyes. He looked like a mean bastard.
"Stand up." His voice was cold and gruff.
I sensed nothing but evil in him. I licked my lips nervously and did what I was told. Although I gave Atlas shit occasionally, this man wasnothim.
Even when Atlas took me the first night, his voice was not as harsh as this guy's. My legs were weak, but they miraculously held me up, even when I swayed alittle to the side. I could feel a shiver run down my spine as I stood there, clenching my fists at my side.
I knew this would not be good. The evil man came closer, inspecting me like I was a piece of prime rib. He rested his hand on his chin, his evil stare fixed on me.
