"You’ll see in a minute, we’re almost there," Lin Yi’s lips twitched as he muttered under his breath. After all this time, this dimwit finally realizes that we’re on the wrong path? What an idiot, she wouldn’t even know if she were sold.

Lin Yuan wasn’t worried about being sold by Lin Yi. She once again took out some pastries from a hidden compartment, reasoning that one should eat more in cold weather. Being both cold and hungry would be akin to courting death, wouldn’t it?

Just as Lin Yuan finished her second plate of pastries, the carriage finally came to a stop.

"Miss, we’re here."

Lin Yuan brushed the pastry crumbs from her hands and lifted the curtain to hop off the carriage. As she touched the ground, an urge to curse her mother surged within her.

Here they were, with snow falling and wind howling; not only had this guy Lin Yi not taken her back to Fuman Building, but he’d also brought her to such a godforsaken place!

With pursed lips, Lin Yuan surveyed the barren landscape before her. As she turned to confront Lin Yi, a familiar figure caught her eye.

Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow and took a few steps closer before she could be certain she wasn’t mistaken. The person standing in the cold wind, waving his arms frantically above his head, was indeed Xia Zheng, who had left the city early in the morning.

But wasn’t this guy supposed to be checking the accounts in Tea Tree Town? How come he returned so early? And instead of going back to Fuman Building, why was he here in this desolate place? Could it be...

Thinking of Xia Zheng’s nature, Lin Yuan’s greediness flared up instantly; her eyes began to dart around uncontrollably. Knowing him, there had to be something lucrative here!

Something lucrative.

The trees by the roadside? Just ordinary poplars and so thin at that; they couldn’t fetch a good price.

The few low houses around? Could it be that real estate prices in Zhuma Town were going up? But she hadn’t heard a whisper of such news.

What else was there? The piece of land under her feet? Was this a once-in-a-century fertile soil where a single seed could grow several bags of grain?

Baffled, Lin Yuan’s gaze returned to Xia Zheng in the distance. Perhaps noticing her standing dazedly for quite some time without moving, Xia Zheng became anxious, his arm-waving growing even more vigorous.

"Is he, asking me to come over?" Lin Yuan looked back at Lin Yi uncertainly and asked.

The corner of Lin Yi’s mouth twitched, Good gracious, the Young Master’s been waving his hands numb, and you still can’t figure out what it means!

Silently receiving Lin Yi’s disdainful look, Lin Yuan pouted, picked up the edges of her cape, and wrapped herself completely in it before slowly making her way towards Xia Zheng.

The snow was indeed heavy today; just by walking along the road for a while, the snow had already covered the soles of her shoes.

Thankfully, since winter had begun, Lady Liu had made her thick-soled shoes, otherwise, after such a walk, her socks and little feet would have been both wet and cold.

"Weren’t you off to Tea Tree Town? How come you ended up here..." Lin Yuan mumbled while carrying her cape, looking down at the road until she heard Xia Zheng call her name and then looked up.

However, before she could finish her sentence, she was stunned by the scene in front of her.

Being far from the carriage when she alighted made it hard to see clearly, and the vast emptiness here, coupled with the snow beside Xia Zheng, didn’t allow for anything else to catch her eye, so Lin Yuan hadn’t noticed anything in front of him, or more precisely, beneath his feet.

It was only now that she truly saw it.
