Lin Yuan hurriedly took a look, and Lady Jin was at most just over thirty years old, well-maintained, and properly dressed. She walked quickly, her face full of anxious expressions. But even so, it didn’t diminish her dignified temperament at all.

To tell the truth, Lin Yuan was indeed surprised to see Lady Jin; such a dignified and imposing figure was not what she had expected.

Li Feng’e’s aunt was a senior maid who had served by her side for many years, and given that she could rely on someone as harsh as Mother Li, Lady Jin probably wasn’t much better.

As she thought about it, Lin Yuan caught sight of Mother Li following close behind Lady Jin, although there were several other people in between them. With such a distance, Mother Li probably was just an ordinary maid, not one of Lady Jin’s confidantes.

"Mother, how are you feeling?" As soon as Lady Jin entered, she walked toward Old Lady Jin sitting at the head of the room, carefully checking her over by rubbing her arms and squeezing her legs, as if she wouldn’t be at ease unless she had thoroughly examined Old Lady Jin from head to toe, inside and out.

A daughter is like a mother’s little cotton-padded jacket, always close to the heart. Lady Jin immediately inquired about her injury upon entering, a far cry from those two spoiled boys.

Old Lady Jin was overjoyed, took her daughter’s hand, and kept assuring her she was fine, telling her not to worry.

Mother Feng had already moved a chair over and placed it beside Old Lady Jin. Old Lady Jin took her hand, not willing to let her sit far away, and insisted she sit close by to keep a close watch.

"Brother An is also here? Brother Zhi has come too? Come, come, please have a seat."

Lin Yuan followed Old Lady Jin’s gaze toward the two young masters who had come in with Lady Jin.

The tall one was Li Chengzhi, the legitimate son of Li Chang’s first wife, and now Lady Jin was his mother, making Old Lady Jin his nominal grandmother.

Given his grandmother was ill, it was only right for him, her grandson, to come and see her.

However, what he did after his arrival was not something Lady Jin could dictate.

Li Chengzhi couldn’t care less about this crippled old hag; with a slight lift of his eyelids, he casually took a seat on a chair to the side, seemingly deliberately or unintentionally, right across from Jin Lingling.

Remembering what Lingling had mentioned earlier about Old Lady Jin intending to match Jin Yuyu with Li Chengzhi, Lin Yuan took a special look at Jin Yuyu and saw her indifferent face, not even glancing at Li Chengzhi. It was clear how displeased she was with this potential marriage.

But looking at Jin Lingling, she sweetly called Li Chengzhi "Cousin" and Lady Ruan was extraordinarily affectionate toward him, acting as if she wished Li Chengzhi were her own son-in-law.

Li Chengzhi was no fool; having been with so many women, he had no interest in a proud and aloof woman like Jin Yuyu. Compared to her, the lively and clever Jin Lingling, with her expressive eyes, matched his tastes better.

Lin Yuan narrowed her eyes, seeing through the plays of Lady Ruan and Jin Lingling.

Lady Jin offering her niece to her stepson was simply a ploy to maintain control over Li Mansion.

Meanwhile, Second Oldest Jin was unhappy with Lady Jin for always thinking about her biological brother’s daughter and was naturally going to sabotage her efforts.

One had to wonder if they were aware of the disgraceful things Li Chengzhi had done outside. If they knew, perhaps they wouldn’t let Jin Lingling get so easily involved with him.

But then again, it was a case of mutual consent; Lin Yuan shrugged her shoulders and pretended not to notice. If those two really got together, it would actually relieve Jin Yuyu from the ordeal, which wasn’t a bad thing.

Old Lady Jin seemed to be well accustomed to Li Chengzhi’s disrespect; she simply asked him to take a seat and stopped speaking to him after that.
