As for the chefs, just as Golden Tongue had said, they had only stolen the superficial aspects and hadn’t grasped the essence, which made it impossible that the tofu was made by a main branch chef.

With that thought, Lin Yuan was almost certain about who had betrayed her or, to be more precise, who had broken the confidentiality agreement and leaked the tofu-making process.

"Go check the back door of Drunken Immortal Residence."

Upon hearing Lin Yuan’s words, Xia Zheng’s mind raced, knowing that this girl must have thought of something, "The back door, hmm, since Drunken Immortal Residence is secretly making tofu, they definitely wouldn’t find another location outside."

Lin Yuan gave him a sweet smile, nodding, "Yeah, they would only be at ease doing the forgery right under their own eyes."

Xia Zheng was caught off guard and electrified by the smile Lin Yuan inadvertently revealed. The little girl had already stirred his emotions, yet she was blissfully unaware of it.

Alas, when would the girl come of age, and when could a marriage be arranged?

Drunken Immortal Residence was large, and its back door was situated on another street.

While this street wasn’t as bustling as the main entrance, there were still plenty of street vendors around.

However, around the back door of Drunken Immortal Residence, it was exceptionally clean, save for some who came to deliver vegetables and meat; there were hardly any other passersby.

Perhaps this was the difference between a large and a small tavern; just look at how tidy even the back door was, no wonder Drunken Immortal Residence was so successful.

But still.

A thought flickered through Lin Yuan’s mind; how could such a decent tavern resort to such low tactics this time?

Xia Zheng was also puzzled, as it clearly wasn’t Drunken Immortal Residence’s usual style.

Could it be that the Boss had changed, or had the Shopkeeper made a decision without consulting the Boss?

Since there weren’t many outsiders near the back door, Lin Yuan didn’t dare to let Lin Yi drive the carriage too close, but fortunately, there were quite a few alleys around.

They stopped at the entrance of one, which allowed them to clearly see everyone coming and going through the back door.

If they could spot a familiar face there, they would find out who leaked the tofu production process.

However, despite a long wait, no suspicious individuals appeared.

Xiao Linshuang had been seated in the carriage for so long that her bottom was nearly tumbling into eight pieces. She had been longing to eat a good meal and then have a lovely sleep in bed.

Lin Wei was also struggling to hold up, utterly exhausted. Moreover, to save time, Lin Yi had driven the carriage exceedingly fast, and she still felt somewhat dizzy.

Seeing her younger sisters looking both weary and sleepy, Lin Yuan truly couldn’t bear to let them suffer any longer. Sighing, she let Lin Yi head towards Fragrant Full Building.

Xiao Linshuang was already leaning and nearly asleep when Xia Zheng, worried she’d catch a cold sleeping in the carriage, tapped her little head and started telling her about the fun stories of the Capital city.

Lin Yuan smiled as she watched everyone, and as the carriage turned a corner, she suddenly, as if possessed, lifted the curtain and glanced toward Drunken Immortal Residence’s back door.

That glance was momentous, and it thrilled Lin Yuan beyond measure! The person who was supposed to come had finally appeared!

"Stop the carriage!" Lin Yuan exclaimed excitedly, clutching the carriage window, eyes glued to the scene. Her behavior instantly drew the attention of everyone inside the carriage.

Xiao Linshuang and Lin Wei were no longer tired or sleepy as they all squeezed their little heads together to look in that direction, while Xia Zheng looked left and right to no avail and could only sit dejectedly to the side.

Who did Lin Yuan see? It was the woman known as Loudspeaker, the same woman she had dismissed from the tofu shop for her idle gossip!

In just a few months, the once plain village lady, Loudspeaker, had transformed. Had Lin Yuan not had a deep impression of her, she might have struggled to recognize her!

Her clothes had improved significantly, with a shiny golden hairpin on her head and, of course, her ears weren’t bare either, nor were her wrists, glittering with a large gold bracelet. Lin Yuan was almost worried for her safety—wasn’t she afraid of getting robbed wearing all that?

But Lin Yuan’s worries were clearly superfluous, because Loudspeaker was confined and couldn’t go out.

Her voice was as loud and high as ever, and from so far away Lin Yuan could clearly hear her arguing with the young servant at the gate.

"Can’t an old lady take a stroll? Open your eyes and see who I am!"

The young servant said something with a chuckle—though it was inaudible, one could guess he was refusing.
