“Right.” Jade flinched and chuckled at the idea of Vicar flying off into the sunset like it might be some sort of a happy ending for him. “More like flew off muttering about not being a kept dragon even though he seemed eager enough.”
“You’re sure everything’s well in the future?” Thorulf asked again, wanting to be sure despite Tor, Maya, and Dagr pursuing Vicar to keep an eye on things. “Trinity isn’t holding Loki’s Dagger hostage like Vicar claims?”
“According to Aunt Elsie, all’s well.” She shrugged. “Really well. Raven continues to improve and is able to spend time at the Chalet, and Trinity is sticking to her guns. She doesn’t have the dagger, and she has no idea who Vicar is.”
“But we don’t believe her, do we?”
“Hell, no.” Jade shook her head, trailing her fingers along his pelvic bone now. “I mean, just look at how well I fooled everyone. My sweet two-rungs-from-the-top-of-pure-positivity sister is more than a few rungs down in the naughty department, and I can’t wait to figure out what her game is.”
“I’m sure Vicar agrees with you,” he managed. His cock leapt at the way she grazed it, teasing him so badly at this point, she would be paying for it. On her knees. Her belly. Her back. Any angle he could think of.
“Will I now?” she purred, kissing where she had just touched. “And how long do I have to wait for this threat to—”
That’s all she got out before she was on her knees grasping the headboard, and he was deep inside her. All she got out before he thrust deep and kept her satisfied well into the night. Over and over. Sometimes hard, sometimes soft, exploring their love in all sorts of addictive ways.
Like those before them, they had discovered not just a deep passion but lasting love. The sort that bound them so tightly they would never lose each other again. Never forget one another. How could they when everything came rushing back once the Forge was complete? Every little memory that was stolen from them. All the laughing, tears, and battling because, true to form, they did plenty of that.
A lot had been taken from them, but they were stronger for it. Whole again. The little black dragon and his adventuresome green dragon. Destined to be fated mates before they drew their first official breath.
Destined to love each other until the end of time.
The war wasn’t won yet, but Thorulf and Jade had added great power to what was coming. They hadn’t just harnessed a touch of Norse godliness but plenty of Celtic. Enough that they understood the enemy like no other. Even better, having sent him back to whence he came in a greatly weakened state, they might still have access to Evil’s mind. They might be able to follow what happened from the other side, essentially doing to Evil what it had done to them.
They had all but defeated a great player and undoubtedly helped weaken their nemesis overall. More than that, though, they had found their way back to each other against the odds. Harnessed a timeless truth that many forget. A truth that can make all the difference.
Whether you believe it or not, love really, trulydoesconquer all.
