Chapter Twenty-Five

“NO, I NEVER fell inlove with anyone else.” Jade shook her head, glad that she and Thorulf had shared everything about their pasts. That they were able to share what they’d felt about previous lovers rather than just seeing the actions in each other’s mind. “I only ever loved you.”

“I never loved another either.” He shook his head. “Only ever you.”

So, in the end, Evil had taken a great deal from them, but it hadn’t taken the most important thing. Their hearts. Their timeless connection. A bond they continued to express physically the remainder of the night, only stirring well after dawn when a rap came at the door.

“Tell Vicar to go away,” she mumbled. They had fallen asleep on a fur in front of a now-dead fire. “Trinity, you’ll get your turn soon enough.”

“What is that, dear?”Aunt Elsie said telepathically.“Were you looking for Trinity?”

She inhaled the scent of Thorulf’s skin, squinted against the dim light coming through the window, and yawned.“Huh?”

The rap came at the door again.

“How did you know that was Vicar?” Thorulf grumbled at the intrusion, calling out for his brother to wait a moment. “And is that your aunt in your mind or Trinity?”

She sat up when he got up, grumbling about untimely intrusions as well. Morning wasn’t her thing. Especially when she’d been up all night having sex. No, she preferred to ease into her day past noon with more sex. Then again, despite being in great shape, she was sore all over, so maybe a breather wouldn’t hurt.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone get into so many difficult positions.” Thorulf chuckled, made sure the fur was wrapped firmly around her and grinned at the swing she’d concocted. “And the maneuvers you did in that were the milder ones.”

She met his grin. “Just wait until you see what I can do with five strips of leather and a switchblade.”

When his brows shot up in curiosity, she laughed. “For all the bad that came out of what Evil did to us, there was a dash or two of good.”

Clearly ready to find out sooner rather than later, he wrapped a fur around his waist instead of dressing and frowned at Vicar when he opened the door. “What is it, brother?”

“I heard Trinity in here.” Fortunately, Vicar's Sigdir was still at the surface when he let himself in. A side with a surprising sense of humor as he eyed the swing and grinned. “I did something like that in dragon form with a rope off the top of the Keep. Hell of a thing when that spire let go.” He winked at Jade. “Damn hard fall, if you know what I mean. Wings don’t work right when you’re in the heat of the moment.”

Where Vicar’s Múspellsheimr side saying that might have irritated her given what happened last night, she appreciated his Sigdir humor and flinched, imagining a dragon breaking his erect cock. It’s a wonder it didn’t kill him. “I’m sure the females were far more concerned about the damage to the second spire.”

Vicar met her chuckle, and Thorulf shook his head.

His brother grinned at Thorulf. “I like her.”

“You’ve made that more than clear,” he replied dryly, manifesting water for him and Jade.
