Story: This is Law

Now that we were in the car, I sent a message to Vivian, letting her know that we were on the way, and would be there in fifteen minutes.

I wasn’t scared that we were doing this because there really wasn’t much in life that scared me.

My brother on the other hand, he was sitting there in complete silence, looking like he’d just saw a fuckin ghost. I knew his ass was scared.

“Fuck you got going on? You scared?” I asked him.

“I ain’t scared of shit. Watch out,” was his response, and I laughed.

Legend was a good kid. He really didn’t do much to land his ass in trouble, so even if we did get caught tonight by our parents for sneaking out, he wouldn’t even have to snitch on me and tell them that it was my idea because they were going to already know.

They would know that it wasn’t Legend’s idea to have us sneak out of the crib at two in the morning. All fingers would point back to me.

We eventually pulled up to the gated community that Vivian stayed.

This shit was nice, just like my mama’s crib.

Pulling up, you could just tell that Vivian’s parents had money.

Shit, how well the grass was cut, the nice palm trees, and the beautiful waterfront view gave that away.

If I wasn’t brought up the way that I was, my mouth would have probably been on the floor, acting like a nigga that wasn’t used to shit, but my parents afforded me a life where this kind of luxurious scenery was of the norm for me.

There was security at the gate, and once we arrived, the uber driver rolled the back window down, and I was the one to let security know Vivian’s address, and security quickly let us in, just like Vivian told me they would. I was a little nervous about that part, but it was quick and easy.

The driver went through the gate, and in about another minute, we were pulling up to the crib, and their home was beautiful, just like I imagined it to be.

It was a mansion, and the stone color was white.

I loved the large floor to ceiling windows that were all over the house.

Even with the windows surrounding the house like that, you still couldn’t see in.

There was a circular driveway, just like at my mama’s crib, and just about every luxury car that you could think of was in the driveway.

There was even a fancy gulf cart in the driveway, too.

I remember Vivian telling me that her little brother and her dad liked to golf.

Once we were let into the gate a few moments ago, I could see the big golf course that the community had, so that’s probably where they did their golfing at.

“Thank you, man. We appreciate it,” I told the Uber driver, once he unlocked the doors for us.

We walked up the driveway, and I found myself looking closely at each car, damn near having my jaw open each time that I saw another luxury vehicle. My pops had a mean car collection, but Vivian’s dad was right behind him, with all these foreign whips that I knew belonged to him.

We reached the front door, and before I could even knock, the door swung open.

It was Vivian standing on the other side of the door, and when she saw us, a smile appeared on her beautiful face.

She was holding a red cup in her hand, and she was dressed in a cotton candy pink dress, that had a short fit to it, and it clung to her body.

You could see the small waist that she had, and she didn’t have much ass, but because of the fit of the dress, it poked out a little bit.

Her ash blonde hair was in loose curls, with a middle part.

There wasn’t any make-up on her face, just lipstick.

She had beautiful skin. Beautiful feet too.

I could see her perfect toes that were painted white in her Chanel sandals.

“Aww. You two made it. Welcome,” she announced, coming a little closer to me, and she hugged me. I got a whiff of her, and she smelled good. Whatever she was wearing, it had lavender in it.

When she pulled away from me, she went for my brother, but his hug was more so a church hug, while the one she gave me, she wrapped both her arms around my neck.

We walked further into the house, and there were more people here than I thought it would be.

All I could think about was the fact that my mama would kill my ass, bring me back to life, only to kill me again if I were to throw a party like this in her house, with all these people, while she was out of town.

I knew that I could test the waters, and be a little daring at times, but even I didn’t have the balls to do this shit.

“Legend?” my brother’s name was called by one of the cheerleaders.

She was a black girl, and her name was Ophelia.

Legend smiled when he saw her, and he turned to look at me, letting me know that he was going to go chill with her, and for me to meet him back at the door in another hour, since that’s the time that we agreed on staying.

Now that he was gone, it just left Vivian, and I.

“We have hunch punch. You want a cup?” Vivian asked me.

“Nah. I didn’t see when that was made,” I replied, saying another one of my father’s teachings. We knew not to drink, or eat something that someone just handed to us, especially if we didn’t see them make it. When I said that to Vivian, she started laughing.

“Creed, me, and everyone else in here is drinking the hunch punch. You think if it was laced with something, that we would all just be casually drinking it?” she asked me, and I didn’t bother responding.

“Come with me upstairs really fast. I need to use the bathroom, and I would much rather use the one in my bedroom,” she offered, reaching back, and grabbing my hand.

We made it in front of the stairs, and she took off upstairs, but I stopped, letting her hand go, and when I stopped, she turned around to look at me.

“I don’t have to take my shoes off?” I asked her.

My mama didn’t play that shit when it came to walking upstairs with shoes on.

She would literally spazz the fuck out. I had PTSD like a motha fucka of getting my ass cursed out for coming upstairs with shoes.

I don’t think anyone outside of my pops, and myself have got snapped on the most because we would usually be the only two that had a hard time with following that rule.

“No. It’s okay. The cleaners come once a week. My parents aren’t strict about that,” she assured me. I still felt bad, but if she was saying that it was fine, then it was fine, so I went ahead, and I followed her up the stairs.

I paid attention to everything, as we made our way up here.

Just in case some shit happened, I looked for exits, if I needed to.

Vivian took us down a long hallway, and her room was all the way on the other side.

When she opened a set of double doors, I’m thinking that she was getting ready to have us walk into her parents room, but she just happened to have a master suite as well.

“Come in,” she offered me, after she opened the door.

I knew the room belonged to her because it was the same headboard that I would see whenever we were on facetime together.

Her room was huge. She had a California king sized bed that sat in the middle of the room.

She told me that pink was her favorite color, so I wasn’t surprised by the cotton candy pink, white, and silver that she had going on in her bedroom.

“You can sit down. I’m going to use the bathroom really quick,” she said, right after she sat her cup down on the dresser.

There was an ottoman that was right in front of her bed, so that’s where I decided to sit down.

I knew not to sit on someone’s bed with my street clothes on.

That was another one of my mama’s rules.

She’ll be ready to kill me, and Legend if we sat on her bed in our street clothes.

I sat on the ottoman, waiting for her, and she didn’t join me until about three minutes later.

She came, and instead of walking over to the door, so that we could go back to where the party was with everyone else, she came over, and she took a seat at the foot of the bed.

I didn’t mind if we chilled up here because it was too many people downstairs that I didn’t know, and that shit would have me on edge.

“I didn’t think you were going to come,” she expressed. I had my body turned, so that I was facing her. Her energy was calm. She didn’t give off vibes like she was nervous or anything, and that could be because we would often talk over the phone, so she probably was used to me by now.

“If I didn’t, it was going to be because Legend didn’t want to come with me. His ass was scared that we were going to get caught,” I told her, and she laughed.

“I only asked because I remember you telling me earlier that your parents were out of town, so I figured that I would shoot my shot. What’s the odds that both of our parents are out of town this weekend? It’s almost like it was meant for us to get some alone time in with each other,” she replied.

“Yeah, I feel you. Your people don’t have cameras and shit?

Like, they not going to get alerts to their phones, showing that it’s motion coming in, and out of the house?

Man, my mama got that fuckin house swamped with cameras.

You’ll think that we live in the white house.

She don’t have it in our rooms though. We get our privacy,” I shared, and she smiled at my words.
