As soon as Dustin realized there were people in the house, that Cary was home, his heart stopped. He tried to turn around, run back outside to tell Laney, but it was too late. Cary had pushed past him onto the porch, his face turning black, and stormed down the stairs.

Dustin dropped his pillowcases, candy forgotten.
