Page 54 of Their Stolen Obsession
I scooped up Liv, her body curled into me, and I shielded her with my backside. An extra layer of protection as Saint did the same with the front of himself and fired off bullets. We found a wall to help shelter us from danger, the gunfire still hot on our trail.
I put Liv down. “Stay here. Back flat against the wall.”
Liv nodded her head. Her gorgeous eyes were wide as shots fired at the other side of the wall and plaster cracked in every direction. Some almost hit her in the eyes, and she screamed with fright.
Fuck!
“Cover me,” I grumbled with anger.
Saint cocked his gun, ready to back me up.
My turn.
Asshole ran out of bullets, and his blasting had ceased. Time to destroy him because I was locked, loaded, and set.
While the enemy reloaded his weapon, I sprung into action.
Out from behind the wall I came, teeth clenched. “Eat shit, asshole.”
Search. Aim. Fire.
Four holes in the limbs and one in the head for added measure. Right in between the fucker’s eyes. Served him right for almost destroying my girl’s eyesight.
I half spun until my backside hit the wall, and a bullet blasted right beside my head. Saint cursed and returned fire until the asshole was dead.
The shots at us slowed. The body count must be over fifty by now. I peeked out into the room to see Zane still demolishing anyone in his path. A pathetic scumbag tried to run from him. Big mistake. He shot the dirtbag in the legs, down he went, and he pleaded for his life right before Zane snapped his neck.
The Pitrone fortress was a goddamn massacre. Blood drenched the floor, brain splatter was on the walls, and the smell of death was all around. Every normal man’s worse nightmare, but our fucking dream come true.
A bullet whizzed past my head. A second one grazed my neck. Fuck! That burned.
Someone had crept up behind us.Shit.Didn’t see his pesky ass coming.
I covered the wound with my hand to slow the bleeding while Saint reacted and shielded Liv with his body. I had no time to protect her, but I had to hatch a quick plan to keep her safe.
“Turn around. Slowly,” I followed the instructions.
It was Preston fucking Pitrone. The sneaky scumbag I’d been waiting for. His ass was grass.
“Drop the weapon.” Pitrone crooked a smile.
Goddamn. I couldn’t wait to shatter a bullet right between his butt ugly teeth.
I did as Preston wanted, but it put a damper on my plan. I needed a gun. At least Saint still had one.
“You too, asshole. Drop it.”
Damn.I spoke too fucking soon.
Saint grunted beside me, and he wouldn’t listen. I didn’t blame him because without our weapons, we were defenseless. Sure, we could still kill him with our hands, but Preston had one up on us. A gun pointed straight at my head.
“Do it or I’ll blow your buddy sky high,” Preston warned.
I glanced over at Saint. Sweat soaked his brow, and hatred made his left eye twitch. He could end this all right here, right now, but risk Preston blowing my brains out, and I was fine with that. As long as he saved our girl, I’d die for her.
“Don’t do it, man,” I whispered to my best friend. “Drop that gun, and I’ll kill you with my bare hands.”
“Shut up, Sin,” Saint grumbled.
