Page 53 of Their Stolen Obsession
“Fuck!” I shot the bastard to my left.
Once, twice, and a third time straight in the chest.
More bullets rang out from my weapon. I was dead set on revenge. Liv was down. Shot. I couldn’t be sure of the extent of her injury, and the thought of her being dead scared the hell out of me.
I didn’t stop moving as soon as I saw Liv get hit. Saint couldn’t either, as we fired back and left bloodshed all around us. Our movements were frantic. Anything to get to our girl—to shield her from further harm and protect her with our bodies.
Liv was a few feet away as we crawled over the glass littering the floor and we took turns firing back at the enemy. We wouldn’t let them stop us. We were steadfast in our operation tosave the woman who had made our hearts beat again, blinding us with obsession and an addiction we never wanted to quit.
Shards cut into my hands and knees. The pain stung, I bled, but the hurt was no match for my will to get to Liv. Saint experienced the broken pieces stick him too. The palms of his hands were bloody as he reloaded his weapon, but he wanted to reach her too.
I got to Liv first, and I scooped her up into my arms. I couldn’t bear to lose her for a second time, and I didn’t want to let her slip away again. My body protected her as the screaming ceased and her beautiful eyes closed.
“Liv! Dammit! Don’t you die on me!” I pleaded and shook her frail body.
Liv’s eyes snapped open.
Jesus.Our girl was alive.
I wanted to kiss Liv, to have her lips cover mine, and we’d forget about all of this. We’d embrace in goddamn bliss while chaos rang out around us, and I could take her right here, but this was no time for a fuck session. Our lives were on the line, and Saint was ordering me to stay down.
Sin! Christ! Get your head out of the gutter and into the damn game!
“Sin?” Liv spoke in a faint tone.
The sound of Liv’s voice was that of an angel. Not the one from my nightmares, but from reality. She was here, in my arms, and finally free.
“Sweetheart,” I whispered, touching her tears and wiping them away. “We’re going to get you out of this, but you’ve got to stay awake.”
I checked Liv over. My eyes scanned over her until I saw the damage. The bullet had grazed her precious skin. No entry wound.
I blew out a sigh of relief.
Liv grazed her fingertips across my cheek. Many sensations tingled through me, and I kissed her tenderly against her palm. She tasted of salty sweat, and I saw the dried blood on her skin. Scabs. Some were old and others were brand new. Fuckers had done a number on her. I’d make these assholes pay.
“It’s really you, isn’t it?” Liv asked. Her voice cracked.
“Yes. It’s me, little obsession,” I answered and kissed her forehead. “Who do you think would come to your rescue? Sebastian?”
I lightened the mood with a joke while under fire. Only a gentleman would do that.
“Fucker.” Liv gave me a small laugh and a weak tap against my cheek.
There was the feisty woman I could never forget. Her stubbornness had kept her alive, and I thankedthe God I started to believe in for granting her an attitude. A spunk that turned me on even in grave times.
“Saint?” she asked.
“Right here, darling,” Saint replied with his teeth clenched, and his back toward us. “Sorry to cut the reunion short, but I need help, Sin.”
Saint fired countless rounds to save all our lives. He didn’t stop and needed me to snap the fuck out of it. I turned my upper body around and fired off some shots over my best friend’s shoulder. Ammunition was against us, and we were running out.
Suddenly, the gates of hell opened up and let a demon in. A man destroying everyone that crossed him without looking back. It was Zane.
Adler shot into the room, gunfire blazing. His ex-military moves came into play as he put someone into a chokehold and snapped their neck to save bullets while I fired off two shots. Brains flew, plastered the wall, and he defended us against the men he had fought with for months. Their shocked faces were the last expression he saw as their deaths were on his hands and he shot again as if he didn’t give a fuck.
Zane Alder was a stone-cold killer. As gruesome as they came because he had double-crossed the Mafia. He wasn’t undercover anymore. He was their enemy, and he had a huge target on his back.
“Let’s move!” Saint demanded in a crouched position, and he moved to the left. “Move, move, move!”
