Page 43 of Their Stolen Obsession
Her Predator
Saint
“Slow down, Sin,” I said as the speedometer hit eighty miles per hour through the city street, and he even blew a stop light.
“No,” Sin argued through clenched teeth and swerved into another lane.
“Yes! Slow down!” I exclaimed with frustration. “We’re no good to Liv locked up behind bars.”
Sin sped up, ignoring my warning. Damn him.
“I’m not letting these assholes lay one more hand on—”
I took the wheel, turned the smooth leather in my direction in the passenger seat and into the right-hand lane. Sin fought me. He resisted and turned back into the left lane.
“Pull over!” Iroared.
“Fuck off, Saint.”
The car swerved, tires squeaking, and the vehicle went over the solid yellow line. Straight into oncoming traffic as the car weaved back and forth. We rocked one way and back to the other, fighting each other.
“Pull the car over, now!” I turned the wheel with all my strength and got us back on track.
Fuck. I knew Sin could be a stubborn bastard, but stupid? No. I don’t think so. Liv was his trigger. She was our endgame. The love of our lives, and he was letting his emotions for her cloud his judgment.
“Say pretty please,” Sin demanded sarcastically as he pulled us back into imminent danger and straight toward a truck.
The semi blared a horn at us with its bold lights flashing. The fucking headlights were brighter than the daylight. A clear warning to get out of the way or we were toast.
Christ!
Sin was a goddamn crazy motherfucker. Actually, not all the time.Sometimes.
The thought of a head-on collision with the truck in front of us didn’t scare me. It petrified me because Liv needed us. I didn’t care about my life, and if I lived to breathe another day. I only wanted to keep her safe.
I’d let Sin get his way.
“Please!” I yelled at him.
“No… That didn’t sound nice.” Sin sighed deeply and pouted. The headlights illuminated his face.
“Pretty, please pull this damn car over?” I asked as fast as possible.
“That’s more like it.” Sin grinned.
Sin jerked the steering wheel back over to safety before we kissed death and made out with the eighteen-wheeler with fucking pretty headlights. Stars danced before me, and I blinked repeatedly to make them stop and an instant headache set in. Our date with death was bittersweet.
I cursed, swallowed the lump in my throat and Sin rolled the car to the shoulder of the road. The silence was deafening, only the sounds of traffic going by caught my attention. We came to a stop. I waited for Sin to put the car in park, and he did it incredibly slowly.
I rolled my eyes, sighed, and grabbed him by the collar of his leather jacket. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
Sin tensed up, stared me dead in the eyes, and answered, “Everything.”
I heaved, “Let me drive.”
“No. Liv needs us. I need her.” Sin had been drinking. His whiskey breath was hot against my face. “We need to get to her. We should—”
“We will. But we need a plan,” I interrupted.
