Page 50 of Their Stolen Obsession
Sin shook Zane’s hand. “Thanks for having our back, man.”
“Anytime.” Zane nodded. “Isn’t that what comrades do?”
“Abso-fucking-lutly.” Sin smirked.
I let go of Zane, and we all shared a chuckle. The laughter was brief as we got down to business and huddled in a circle. Under the cover of darkness, we plotted a new strategy with Zane on our side, a secret weapon and our way inside Pitrone territory.
Twenty-Seven
Her Predator
Sin
“There’s two guards by the side entrance,” Zane whispered beside me as we kneeled down behind bushes. “I’ll take them out.”
I looked at Saint on the other side of Zane, and he nodded in confirmation to follow through with the plan. Perspiration gathered on his forehead, and he wiped it away with the back of his hand. His blue eyes were focused, ready for revenge.
“We got you covered, Adler,” Saint whispered back.
I gave encouragement. “Strike ’em dead, soldier.”
Zane blew out a breath and off he went. He went around toward the trail we had used as a shortcut, but he had revealed we’d be made, and he was right. Armed men stood guard by the outside of the Pitronefortress, ready to blow bullets into the heads of anyone who crossed their path.
“Adler better not cross us,” Saint muttered quietly beside me.
“He won’t,” I said as I watched Zane stroll up to the enemy with a cigar in his hand, and he had them follow him toward the side.
Away from a camera in plain sight. Fuck. Zane was a genius.
“I’ll bet ya one hundred bucks he’s asking them for a light.” I grinned.
Saint shook his head. “Two hundred he’ll snap both their necks.”
“Deal.” I shook my best friend’s hand.
Zane wouldn’t snap their necks. He’d get them both in a choke hold and watch their eyes bulge, pleading for their lives. Their eyes would turn red and their lips blue until life left them, ready for the afterlife.
The guards were fucking clueless as they searched in their pockets. Adler’s distraction had worked like a goddamn charm. Quickly, Zane reacted. With his huge biceps, he bound each man tightly, and their weapons fell to the ground. He squeezed until their arms thrashed as they tried to free themselves from his headlock, but they were no match for Zane.He slowly bent toward the dirt, and their bodies jerked. Twitched until they went limp and death crept in.
Saint cursed.
“You owe me two hundred.” I slapped Saint’s arm.
Zane Adler was savage. An animal caged away inside of a massive veteran who enjoyed the thrill of death. He was like me in a sense, but a rule breaker and a risk taker. One hell of a player to have on our side, and I knew he’d avenge our game because he was a ruthless motherfucker. He took no shit from anyone and was as quiet as a goddamn mouse.
Zane crept around in stealth mode and knocked out the outdoor camera. We met up with him, and he was the first one through the door. He was our way inside as he took out another device pointed toward the door.
“Let’s go,” I said to Saint as I made my way inside and Zane opened another door.
A bullet flew past my shoulder and hit the wall.
Zane put the bastard into a chokehold. Saint went ahead of him, and I followed close behind. Another camera to my left and one to Saint’s right. We shot them both out.
“Move, move,” Zane voiced from behind us as he let the limp body hit the floor and followed closely.
We’d blindsided the Pitrones, and they’d never know what hit them. Zane’s betrayal was the ultimate punch in the dick, but I didn’t blame him one bit. He had a job to do, to serve and protect. The exact mission we all had before we ended up as prisoners years ago.
“Camera at ten o’clock,” Saint announced with his back pressed up against a wall.
