“You did, but these hours are grueling. You’re not going to be able to sustain that.”
“I have a number in my head that I need to hit,” I say sadly. “I’ll slow down once that happens.”
Waving goodbye to the doctor, I begin to walk closer to the alphas waiting for me. They wait until Dr. Royal leaves before Storm leans forward.
“I don’t like that you’re working yourself into the ground,” he growls.
“And I don’t care what you think,” I say cooly, glancing at their president. “Why are you all here, other than this ridiculous trade I lost.”
“So goddamned sassy,” the president says. “We haven’t met properly, little scent match. I’m Lore.”
“Do you all just have one name, like Madonna?” I ask, rolling my eyes.
“Cute,” he says. “My name is Lore Monroe. Storm’s name is his road name. He doesn’t really go by anything else, and he’s definitely as dramatic as Madonna, so I guess it works.”
I can’t help but smile at his words. He’s intelligent, handsome, and not at all what I thought he’d be like. I’m sure he’ll show his asshole stripes soon, and I’ll be able to hate him again.
“Can we take you to breakfast?” Lore asks.
My bag has my lunch box that actually had my dinner from last night, and odds and ends that I like having on shift. It’samazing how dry your lips get when you’re running around talking to patients all day. I also have hand lotion because the same can be said for the gloves I use.
“Yes, but just breakfast,” I say. “I’m going right to bed after.”
“How are you able to keep up this pace?” he asks in wonder, taking my bag and putting it away. “You’re riding with me.”
He pulls out a helmet that looks like it’ll fit me and I raise my brow.
“Call it wishful thinking that you’ll let me drive you around,” he says with a wince.
“I think you’re a little delusional,” I say, taking the helmet from him as he grins.
“I hear it’s one of the signs of a great leader,” Lore says. “How do you feel about pancakes?”
“I’d say that I like them more than I like you,” I reply, putting the helmet over my head.
Lore helps me keep my balance as I slide in behind him, and I can feel his body rumbling as he laughs. I’d never know it if I wasn’t so close to him.
“I think you’re the perfect omega for our pack. I deal with these brats every day,” he says, putting on his own helmet.
The visor is still up on Storm’s helmet as he winks at me.
“We know your secrets, even if you’re not comfortable looking at them,” he says. “I bet you make a million decisions on a daily basis, right? They’re life or death, and in the last few weeks, you’ve upended your own life.”
“Yeah, and?” I ask, glad he can’t see my features. The helmet also muffles my voice, but he can still hear me just fine based on his mischievous gaze.
“Sometimes, it’s nice to not have any decisions to make,” Lore says over his shoulder in reply. “I tell you what to do and when, but only in the bedroom. If I tell you to lick someone’sboot, bounce on a dildo against a headboard to get your asshole ready to take our cocks, then you do it without question.”
“All while we call you our greedy little whore,” Wilder adds, his nostrils flaring as I perfume with a shiver.
“I don’t think so,” I rasp, my mouth feeling dry.
“We’ll see,” Storm says, closing the visor of his helmet and turning on his bike.
“Hold on, Marie,” Lore rumbles. His hands grab my thighs and pull me tighter against his back until I’m plastered against him. His warm hands squeeze mine before he wraps my arms firmly around him. “Is it so hard to be a good girl?”
Fuck. I have to swallow my whine down while lying to myself. I do not like being called…whatever he just did. Nope, not even a little bit.
The rumble of the beast of a bike thrums through my pants and against my clit, making me bite my lip as I squeeze my thighs around Lore. I’m sure he’s as smug as a pig in shit about this, but I can’t hold back my reaction.
