“That was pretty rude,” I whisper, my voice shaky.
A quiet laugh rumbles from his chest. “If you thought that was rude, you’re going to love what I’m about to do to you.”
Ah, and there it is. The reason he brought me here. He wants to play our favourite game: pursuit and capture.
My feet move on instinct, carrying me several steps back, just out of reach of his hands. I gaze up at him, my heart beginning to race a little faster. “And what are you going to do to me?”
His hands grip the hem of his shirt, dragging it off in one fluid motion. He drops it to the floor like it’s nothing, his chest rising and falling as he breathes deep.
“You’re going to run, and I’m going to hunt you down.” His voice is rough and guttural.
“When I catch you, I’m going to hold you down beneath me, force your thighs apart…” he pauses, his eyes dropping to my mouth as I bite down on my lower lip. “Then I’m going to force you to take my cock, and make you come all over me until you’re a ruined mess.”
My thighs press together, helpless against the ache growing between them. The pain of my teeth against my lip helps tether me to the present, keeping me focused on what I need to do.
He takes a slow step toward me, and I mirror him and take one step away. “And when you’re shaking, and begging me for mercy,” he voice is rough, his fists clenching at his sides like he’s fighting for control over himself. “I’m going to come so deep inside of you, your body will forget where you end and I begin.”
My breath hitches.
I know how hard it makes him when I fight back, when I pretend I don’t need him as much as he needs me. So, I give him what he’s craving… something I want, too.
“No,” I whisper, even as the scorching inferno of my desire burns through me like a wild fire.
Dominic groans, tilting his head back to crack his neck, before leveling me with his feral gaze. “My favourite fucking word.”
My pulse thunders, breath quick and uneven as adrenaline kicks in. My breathing is a little more erratic as I take another step back.
He’s standing there in the last rays of light as they pour in from the ruined ceiling above him, and he looks like a god summoned straight out of my darkest fantasies.
“Run, little lamb.” His voice sounds inhuman, causing goosebumps to cover every inch of me.
He takes one slow, menacing step toward me, and that’s all the warning I need.
I spin on my heels and bolt, heading for the twisted remains of the broken gate that once separated the public from the inmates.
I leap over what’s left of it, the jagged wire catching on the hem of my dress. The sound of fabric tearing rips through the silence like a gunshot, but I don’t stop moving. I abandon the thread of material for Dominic to find.
I head left, straight down a corridor with a sign that points towards something labeled A Block. The floor is a graveyard of debris, littered with garbage, thick dust, and weathered paperwork. I run through the hallway, my steps echoing in every direction.
Heavy shadows spill across every surface, hiding the terrifying shapes of ghosts I swear I see out of the corner of my eye.My heart is pounding as I run, my lungs burning from the mixture of panic and exertion.
I reach the heavy double doors and shove them open, the space beyond opening up into a cavernous hall. It’s a long corridor with rust-stained prison tables: round, and bolted to the ground with metal stools welded in place. On either side are two levels worth of prison cells, every one equally dark and menacing. A staircase rises up at the far end, twisted and crooked.
I’m running out of places to run, so I weave in and out of the broken tables and aim for the stairs.
I hit them hard, struggling to maintain my speed since my legs are already shaking from the effort. My lungs burn, but I push through the ache and try to ignore my exhaustion.
The unmistakable sound of boots hitting the bottom step behind me echoes through the facility, and a jolt of adrenaline shoots through me. I yelp, stumbling forward, forcing myself to take the steps two at a time.
He’s so damn fast. I never stood a chance.
I squeal as I reach the top, sounding far too much like a rabbit caught by a wolf, before darting left.
I don’t have time to think, I just move. I run straight into the nearest cell and spin around to throw the door shut behind me. The gate groans, the rusted metal screaming in protest as I force it into place. Just as the heavy steel crashes against the frame, Dominic rounds the corner.
His hands wrap around the bars, his muscles flexing, that sinister smirk spreading across his face.
Shit. I just trapped myself in a prison cell.
