Page 84 of The Destruction You Desire
My chin drops in shock.
"W-when?"
Looking away, she walks toward my window, probably to get some fresh air.
"You were a whore in high school. I walked in on you and some cheerslut more than once."
"How don't I know this?" I mutter, wracking my brain for any kind of memory.
She rests her hands on the windowsill and leans forward.
"You were thoroughly distracted."
"Didn't stop you looking though, did it?" I deadpan.
"Trust me, I didn't hang around to watch."
"That why you fucked Lee?"
She turns back and pins me with a hard look.
"You need to let that go."
"I know. I have." Mostly. "I'm just curious."
"I was jealous, okay? Is that what you want to hear? I had a hella crush on you, but you never looked at me twice. You were too concerned with which cheerslut you were going to stick your cock into next. Lee knew, he saw everything. He always sees everything." I can't help but mutter my agreement. That asshole really does see it all. "He consoled me. We were drunk and one thing led to another."
"You're not his type. I think that's why I never even considered it would happen," I say, knowing my brother's addiction to redheads. Letty is actually the only one that I know of who breaks his mold when it comes to his chosen partners.
"I know. Neither of us were thinking about reality that night. We just needed comfort and we had each other."
"Okay. I get it. Enough about that." I shake my head, ridding the images of what the three of us got up to right there not so long ago from my head.
Any possibility of anything happening with me and Letty is long gone.
She's got Kane, and I've got… no one.
I drop my head into my hands as the mattress beside me dips as Letty sits down.
She places her hand on my shoulder.
"They're on their way, Luc. This… whatever this is, it needs to stop."
"She doesn't need me, Let. It doesn't matter that she's coming back."
"That's bullshit and you know it."
"Is it?"
I haven’t told anyone the details of why I ended up leaving Peyton in that motel room but Letty doesn't need to hear it from me, I already know she's heard from Peyton.
Damn them for becoming friends. I've got no chance of drowning myself in vodka and weed with them teaming up.
"She's hurting, Luc. And you… you were making her feel things she wasn't ready for."
"She told you that?"
"Well, not in so many words, no. But I know it's the truth."
