Page 77 of That First Night
“Well, Gigi,” Logan begins, but pauses his thoughts. “I can call you that, right?”
“Of course, sweetheart.” She chuckles and winks at him. “A fine young man like yourself can call me whatever you want. Just don’t call me late for dinner.”
“Well, well.” Logan sits up straighter in his seat, and he smirks. “I will have you know that my card will be a favorite of yours.”
“I bet it will, Logy,” she mocks the nickname Emiline has for him and I hear Emiline chuckle under her palm that covers her face.
“Wrong,” Kali chimes in. “Gigi is going to get the biggest kick out of mine. I know her dirty personality.”
“Hey,” I interrupt defensively. “I’m the one voting here. Give me your cards, let me read them.” I grab the stack from the table and begin a small shuffle.
“Alright.” I clear my throat. “I’ll read the card again and then the answers. “A successful job interview begins with a firm handshake and ends with.” I pick up the first white card to read, “A plunger to the face.”
The table begins to laugh, and I swear Emiline almost spits out her drink. “That was even funnier when you read it all together,” Emiline says. “I gave myself away, but that one is mine. It’s what I would like to do to Logan.”
“First of all,” Logan adds. “You’re not supposed to tell her it’s your card. Second of all, you fucking love me.”
“Never in this lifetime, Logan,” Emiline scoffs.
“Shush you two.” I grab the next card. “A successful job interview begins with a firm handshake and ends withFuck Mountain,” I read. I already know that this is Avery’s card without even looking her in the eye. “That’s a good one, guys.”
“The fucking best one,” Avery adds with a laugh.
I begin to read the next card, “A successful job interview begins with a firm handshake and ends withblowing some dudes in an alley.” I shake my head.
“Oh, fuck yeah!” Logan claps his hands together. “But that wasn’t mine. It was a good one though.” I see Gigi laughing in her seat next to me. It was definitely hers.
“Next,” I say before I repeat the sentence again and add another card option, “Just the tip.” My eyes glance over to Thomas because I wonder if that was his. He shakes his head and laughs but Logan chimes in.
“That’s all you need,” he laughs.
“I beg to differ,” Avery adds. “Just the tip is a tease. You want to get a girl off, you have to give her all the meat, Logy.” I can’t help but laugh at everyone calling him that now.
“I second that,” Kali adds.
“I know how to get a girl off,” he defends himself. “And multiple times. Thank you very much.”
“In your fucking dreams,” Marc adds.
“I have to agree with them,” Emiline adds. “Just the tip does nothing.”
“My ears are bleeding, Em,” Thomas adds. “Please don’t talk about your sex life. I’m begging you.”
“She doesn’t have a sex life,” Logan adds. “She’s just a baby.”
“I’m fucking 21, you Lincoln Log,” Emiline defends herself.
“Since when?” Logan begins to shout. “Good gracious. How have you two not tied her up and locked her in the basement to protect her?”
“Because the last two people I want to be tied up by are my brothers.”
“Emiline, I’m begging you,” Marc groans, covering his ears. “We don’t need to know this stuff.”
“Can I go back to reading the last three cards?” I interrupt and go back to the game. “A successful job interview begins with a firm handshake and ends withtongue.” My gaze falls on Thomas who has a smirk on his face and I watch him slowly as he drags his tongue along his bottom lip. That card was definitely him. Thankfully, no one picked up on his subtle move he just did because I’m not ready to answer questions. I haven’t told Avery and Kali about us yet.
I repeat the sentence again with the last two cards. “Fisting,” I read out loud. “And lastly, masturbating in a robe like a rich person.”
“That one is Marc,” Avery says confidently. “I can picture that.”
