The three ofthem waited patiently for my answer, and though there was no pressure, I sensed the gathering tension in theair.

“Tell us the truth, please Peyton. We don’t want to hurt you.” This from Alex, a woebegone look in his darkeyes.

“Unless you wanted it.” Gabriel waggled his darkeyebrows.

Laughter burst out of me. “Youscamp.”

Shifters were different. They lived in different circles, had different habits and values than humans. Alex smiled, Gabriel chuckled and Dante gave a relieved sigh. He drew me into his arms, his dark gaze dancing with mirth andhunger.

“You are far from roast beef, my dear Peyton. But this is why we desire you so much – you make us laugh, and make us feel accepted andcomfortable.”

“You’re as lickable as roast beef,” Gabrieloffered.

“Thus says the poet laureate of Cheyenne,” Alex muttered, but his expression was filled withdelight.

Dante framed my face with his long, elegant hands. The hands of a pianist or an artist, not a wolf shifter who tore his enemies apart. “Tell me now, Peyton. Do you wantus?”

Serious time again. I couldn’t speak, because of all the emotion inside me. It was too intense. No guys had never wanted me thismuch.

And they were willing to pay all that money to have me, and forfeit it if this made me uncomfortable. They wanted myconsent.

Barely had the word fled my lips when Dante’s mouth was upon mine. He kissed me with fervent hunger, as if he’d waited a lifetime for this. He kissed me as if I were the last woman on earth and he needed to breathe me into his verysoul.
