"I can't wait to see you walkin' down the aisle to me. And then rippin' off that dress once we're alone." He winks, smirking like he's proud of himself.
"And there it is." I laugh, but then wrap my arms around him. "Thank you for lovin' me durin' the hardest year of my life. This has already been the best Christmas when I'd been preparin' for it to be my worst."
He tilts my chin, gripping it tenderly. "I will love you through every storm—the same way you've done for me."
Chapter Thirty
Wilder
"Ooh, Mrs. Hollis..." I call out, removing my shirt and kicking off my boots.
After the day I've had, I've been anxious to get back home and to my wife.
"In here!" she shouts from the spare room.
She must be organizing it again. Ever since she moved in the rest of her stuff three weeks ago, she's been going through what to keep and what to get rid of.
Unbuttoning my jeans next, I slide them off until I'm left in my boxer briefs. I'm hoping to convince her to take a shower with me so we don't waste any time before we have to go to her mom's house for Saturday dinner and game night.
It'll be the first one I'm going to since I finished my hours at the shelter. I did the bulk of them over the holiday week and then did my final five hours last Sunday. Even though Miss Tierney signed off on them, I still vowed to come one weekend a month. Delilah signed on to come with me so she can help, too.
"Time to get naked, baby. We've got thirty minutes, and I wanna spend twenty-five of those inside y—" I freeze when I walk into the room and find Amelia looking horrified.
"Wilder!" Delilah rushes toward me, quickly pushing me out into the hallway.
"I didn't know she was here!" I defend.
Her car's in the driveway, but it always is now that she moved in next door. She's been working here since the beginning of the month, but between our work schedules and everything else I have going on, I don't get to talk to her as much as Delilah does. But I do get to see her and Sam almost every day when I'm on my lunch break and he's at The Lodge eating with his mom.
"Yeah, well now she's seen all of you." She pushes against my chest. "Get in the shower so we're not late."
"I was hopin' you'd join me..." I waggle my brows.
"I'm dressed and ready." She waves a hand down her body and my gaze follows, appreciating how good she looks. "I have a box of clothes I’m donatin’ to the shelter but wanted to see if Amelia was interested in any of them first."
"That would've been nice to know about sixty seconds ago."
"Don't worry, I didn't see yourthing!" Amelia calls out and Delilah's face reddens.
"Please go," Delilah says defeated.
"Can I steal a kiss first?"
"Fine, but just one," she teases, puckering her lips.
I lean down and press my lips to hers, then steal a few extra kisses.
"Now hurry up."
Showering alone is now my least favorite activity when I've gotten used to having my wife in here with me. We've formed our own little routine in just the past few weeks, and I'm even more addicted to her than I was in Vegas.
Some might say it's a sickness.
But if so, then I never want to be cured.
"Is the coast clear?" I shout, poking my head through the bathroom door before I walk out in only a towel.
"Yes, casanova. You have fifteen minutes," she singsongs from the living room.
