POLARIS
“ L ook at them. Who knew there would be something in the world that could make them be in the same place at the same time?” Beatrice gleams, clapping her hands together excitedly.
“Willingly, we should add,” Kristy adds, beaming with her best friend as she looks at Lincoln and Blaze standing beside one another.
“Mother,” Blaze gripes, and she turns to him with a pointed look, struggling to hide the smile teasing her lips.
“Blaze,” she chides in return, earning an eye roll from the vampire in question.
“You’re being ridiculous,” Lincoln insists, siding with Blaze; another rarity.
“Ridiculous would be shutting this theme park down for the whole day so you guys could have the best time,” Kristy retorts, the signage to the theme park in question shimmering behind her, and she’s right.
The only people present on the other side of the entryway are the staff.
Not another soul is going to be here today.
“Yeah, you’re definitely ridiculous,” Beatrice says with a snicker, and Minnie groans.
“Can we stop saying ridiculous?”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Blaze adds with an eye roll, making Beatrice scoff.
“Don’t get involved, Blaze. We’re having fun,” she insists, and he shakes his head.
“It’s not fun.”
“It’s ri—never mind,” Lincoln mutters, cutting himself off.
Kristy grins in delight, linking arms with her friend as she waves for us to enter. “Go. Have fun. It’s not every day you save the entire supernatural world from a centuries-old curse. We’ll meet you tonight for the fireworks. Are your parents still coming, Polaris?” she asks, and I nod.
“Yeah.” It feels weird, and my nerves are definitely eating me up, but after everything has come to light, it’s unfair of me to forgive others and not them. I make no promises, but I’m willing to try.
“Hey, Polaris.”
I grin as Ben appears, relaxed and grinning from ear to ear. I cock a brow at him.
“No Bianca?” I clarify, not even a little disappointed to not see her, and he shakes his head.
“Nah,” is all he offers, and I don’t press for more.
The curse unraveled only for those who hadn’t died under it.
So, just like me, everyone affected by the curse will remain as they are.
Ben doesn’t remember, and as much as I hate to see him forget his past, I’m hoping it opens up a wonderful future for him.
He was a human, regardless. At least this way, he’s not a supernatural hunter and can do whatever he wants in life.
“Hi Ben, I’m Minnie,” she states, not missing a beat as she waves at him before linking her arm through his. “It looks like you’re stuck with me today while those assholes fight over her attention,” she says with a grin, and he smirks.
“I’ve had worse dates.” He winks, and she raises an eyebrow at him.
“Do you have a vagina?” she blurts, and he shakes his head. “Then this is not a date, but consider me your new bestie,” she clarifies, dragging him ahead.
“You don’t have to leave,” I holler, but she waves me off effortlessly.
“We’ll catch up with you later,” she promises without a backward glance.
Then there were six of us.
Savages to the core.
“We literally saved the supernatural world two weeks ago. Standing in a theme park now feels criminal,” Wylder states, moving to my right, and I hum.
“I think it might be,” I agree, and Asher sighs.
“We deserve to have some fun.”
“Agreed. Besides, that academy isn’t going to run itself,” Tatum adds, giving us a pointed look.
“And everyone is being transferred over from Florentine’s tomorrow, so it’s today or never if the schedule doesn’t change,” Lincoln mutters, uncertainty warring in his eyes as he scrubs the back of his neck.
“We’re going to have our work cut out for us,” Blaze confirms, and I smile despite the unknown.
“That’s what we get for agreeing to take on a mammoth task.”
Two weeks of watching the disarray unravel throughout the supernatural world made one thing clear: the academy is still needed.
Not to pit factions against one another and continue to create a divide, but to educate students.
And what better way for me to educate myself than to do it with the men I love?
It might not be forever, but right now, the students deserve to understand the truth straight from our mouths, and that’s what they’re going to get.
“At least we’ll have Belladora to help us,” Asher states. “Family, too,” he remembers, knowing his mother will be joining us on campus tomorrow.
There’s a lot going on and our journey is far from over, but I can’t think of a better way for us to piece it back together.
“I’m not having someone call me Professor, though,” Lincoln grumbles, and I snicker.
“What do you want to be called?”
“They can call me the guardian of the light,” Wylder declares, earning an eye roll from the others, but it makes me smile.
“I like it.”
“Make me the healer of wounds. Wait, that’s shitty, I want to trade with Tatum; The shadow walker,” he declares, and Tatum scoffs.
“You’re all dumb.”
“Nah, we’re just love drunk on our woman,” Blaze retorts.
Asher hums in agreement. “Our center,” he adds, despite the fact that I’m no longer a witch, but it still resonates with our dynamic.
“Where to first?” I ask, and Wylder slings his arm around my shoulders, leading the movement.
“I don’t care, but I call dibs on sitting next to Polaris on the log flume. We have a tradition,” he states, winking at me, and I blush.
“If you’re getting her off on the log flumes, I call dibs on the Ferris Wheel,” Tatum insists, making my blush deepen.
“Let’s chalk it up, boys. Whoever gets her off the most gets a prize,” Lincoln decides, and I gape at them as they continue to discuss it while I die over and over again.
“What’s the prize?” Asher asks, and Wylder shrugs.
“I don’t need anything, I’ve already won,” he says with a smirk, and when his eyes meet mine, he winks.
Player.
“Well, speak for yourself, I’m always chasing my goal,” Blaze declares, hurrying two steps ahead to walk backwards.
“You’re always chasing it with your dick,” Tatum swipes, earning a snicker as Blaze looks him dead in the eyes with a straight face.
“It’s either that or I’m tripping over it.”
Laughter rings through the air, Blaze lightening the mood for the first time, and I gape at him in surprise.
“No way, you are funny!” I say with a wide grin, and he shakes his head at me, but the lightheartedness that floods my chest is enough to lull me into contentment forever.
“I fucking love you, Amica Mea,” he hollers, and I grin.
“I love you too.”
“I love you more, Midnight.”
“I love you most,” I insist, earning a pinch at my side from Wylder.
“I love you infinity, Little Witch.”
“I love you beyond infinity,” I retort as Asher finds my gaze.
“I love you to the depths of Hell and back,” he promises, and I smile, knowing how dark his life got for a moment there.
“I love you enough to walk that path with you, no matter what.”
“I love you now, forever, and always, Polaris,” Tatum says, completing our circle, and as I look at him, I know I’m looking at my entire life. All of them create a part of me, all of them complete me. Together, they’ll be my past, present, and future.
With a smile, I slip from under Wylder’s arm to rise on my tiptoes and press a kiss against Tatum’s cheek for old times’ sake.
“I love you even more than that.”
