“This isn’t fair. Why is it okay for you to cheat but not me?”
“Because you’re mine, Amber. ONLY MINE!” His voice vibrates through the small corridor we’re in, grabbing theattention of a couple in the parking lot. “I don’t want some other dude’s dick inside of you. You’re fucking tainted now.”
“Oh my god, Eddie, stop being an asshole. I made a mistake. It’s the same fucking mistake you made at that party. We both are equally fucked up, but at least I’m trying to be a grown-up about it. You’re over here acting like a toddler throwing a tantrum.”
His eyes flash wildly, and for a second, I think he might swing on me. Thankfully, he doesn’t.
“Toddler, huh? Me being upset makes me a fucking toddler?”
“Well, you’re over here throwing a double standard tantrum, and all up in your hypocritical feelings.”
Yeah, that comment definitely sealed my fate.
“Fuck you, Amber. We’re through. It was a mistake even coming here.”
“Are you really going to fucking walk out on me like this again?”
He smirks evilly. “I’m just giving you what youneed, Amber. And it’s obvious what youneedisn’t me.”
Then he’s gone, running out of my life for the third and final time. Every bone in my body goes rigid, paralyzing me to the bench as he climbs on the back of a Harley and races out of the parking lot, leaving me there in a puddle of my own misery.
Somehow, I knew this was coming. I guess it was kind of inevitable in a way. There’d been so many signs leading up to this moment that none of it caught me off guard.
Except for one very trivial thing…
When the fuck did he start riding a motorcycle?
Chapter Eight
Eddie
Absolute rage overtakes me as I peel out of the mall parking lot, and out onto the open road. How could I be so fucking stupid? Why did I think I could actually make this relationship work? Pippa was so right. Why didn’t I just listen to her?
Two hours Earlier…
My fist pounded against the duplex door, hopefulness and determination taking over me. Pippa opened the door, her smile faltering to a frown when she saw my disheveled exterior.
“Did you ride that over here?” She pointed to my dad’s bike that was sitting in the driveway. “I didn’t know you could ride.”
“It’s my dad’s, but yeah, I’m learning.”
She motioned to my hand. “Is it broken?”
I shrugged. “Don’t know. It feels like it.”
“And you rode that here with a broken hand?”
“Not easily. Anyway, is Amber here?”
She shook her head. “She’s at work.”
Damn, she didn’t waste any time getting back in the swing of things. I don’t know why I expected her to be home, sitting here in a puddle of tears, mourning our fight.
“I guess I’ll head over there then.” I started my retreat, but Pippa grabbed my shoulder.
“Eddie, you shouldn’t go over there.”
“Why?”
