“We meant what we told your sister,” Maddox says.

Kill nods. “You are part of the pack too.”

Ezra slides a pen in our direction. “All you two have to do is sign.”

“Lottie?” I ask.

Teary eyes meet mine, light blue and full of hope. “Is it real?”

I squeeze her. “Yeah, hun. It’s real.”

“Sign it,” she says quickly, grabbing the pen and pushing it into my hand. “Sign it!”

“Okay, okay,” I say, batting away a tear and sending a grateful smile at my pack. The pen scratches over the paper. Four signatures is all it takes for Lottie to be Lottie Lennox. I set the pen down and glance at my sister. It used to be just her and me against the world, but as Milly sidles up to us and the pack surrounds us, a new reality begins.

This is our family.

3 YEARS LATER

Like a glittering sea, the gems sitting in the cases are just begging to be taken. Diamonds. Rubies. Sapphires. Gold. Silver. What more could a woman want?

“She used to look at us like that,” Kill teases.

I cast a glance at my pack. Three stalkers I never managed to shake. We’ve stolen together. Killed together. Done a number of illegal things together, but we’ve done some good too. They helped me raise Lottie. We took the money from the Kain Industries investments and poured it into local after school programs, giving kids like me—who never had a good role model—a place to find one.

“What are you thinking?” Ezra murmurs, taking in each case. “There are so many.”

I nod. “There’s a sixteen-carat diamond that’s screaming my name.”

Maddox exhales. “All right. I’ll deal with the guy behind the counter. Kill, you take the security guard. Ezra you’re oncameras, and you know what to do, right, sunshine?” It’s then I realize they’re all wearing their leather gloves.

My forehead wrinkles. “No, no, no, no! I didn’t bring you all here to rob the place,” I whisper hiss. “For the first time in my life, I’m going to buy a ring.”

Kill tips his head back and forth. “I don’t know, I like Maddox’s plan.”

Rolling my eyes, I spin away from them and head toward one of the employees, asking to see the ring. My pack reluctantly follows me, and I keep a close watch on them. You never know when they might change their minds.

“Okay,” Rob, the male omega according to his nameplate and the mark on his wrist, sets out the tray of giant diamond rings. “Here it is.” He carefully picks up the ring and hands it to me.

My heart skips as I slide the ring on. Oh my gosh, it fits perfectly. I hold it to the light and wiggle my finger, loving the sparkle and weight. I could definitely fuck someone up with this. “Gorgeous.”

“Mmm, I should hope so. That ring is unique with a one-of-a-kind price tag of five-million dollars.”

A stone drops into my stomach. Excuse the fuck out of me. Five million dollars? Does the diamond shit diamonds?

“Wait for it,” Kill whispers to the pack.

“Five-million?” I ask.

The employee nods. “It’s a rare stone. Worth every penny.”

Do people actually pay this much for these rings? I knew they could get expensive but fivefuckingmillion dollars? My pack is loaded, but even that’s a hit. It’s criminal. It’s unethical, it’s. . . My gaze slips to my pack.

Kill is smirking. Maddox lifts an eyebrow. Ezra sighs and nods.
