“Food first,” Ezra demands, hooking his arm with Kill’s and dragging him toward the door. The smirk on Kill’s face makes me giddy.
Maddox sighs. “You two are dangerous together.”
Grinning up at my big teddy bear, I go on my toes and brush my lips against his once, twice, thrice, four times and link my fingers with him and draw him toward our pack. “Come on, kitty. I’m starving.”
His eyes narrow at my teasing.
Tonight is going to be amazing.
The black leather seats of Maddox’s pearl white Bentley Continental hug my body. I sit in the front with Maddox, and Ezra and Kill sit in the back. I glance at them as Maddox pulls onto the main road, smiling at the pretty picture they make. Ezra’s head rests on Kill’s shoulder, but they’re both looking at me, eyes filled with adoration and lust. I don’t feel like an outsider. If anything, having the two of them togetherandwanting me makes me feel special.
Like somehow I’m exactly what they needed.
Smiling, I face forward and watch the city fly by, realizing the cabin is just quiet. Is this how Maddox likes to drive? With his thoughts? I nearly shudder at the image.
Let my head fill up the quiet? No thank you.
The lack of music and oppressive silence has me fidgeting in my seat. I eye the radio, but I know how guys get, so I don’t touch it.
Maddox side-eyes me. “Put something on.”
“Are you sure?”
He nods.
The last time I was in a car with an alpha, he yelled at me for putting on my playlist without asking and berated me for likingthe stupid omega music. Insecurity suddenly grips my chest.
“What if you hate it?”
“I won’t.”
“You may as well do what he says,” Ezra says gently. “He won’t let it rest until you do.”
“But—”
“Hazel?” Kill cuts me off.
“Yeah?”
“Shut that beautiful mouth and put on some music.”
Fine. I’ll do it, but I need to know how they’ll react to musical torture. I’m not sure how I’ll feel if they get pissed at my song choice. Testing their restraint, I put on a particularly obnoxious pop song. Maddox simply taps his finger on the steering wheel in beats of four. Ezra and Kill don’t complain.
Okay. That was a fluke. Narrowing my eyes, I switch to a staunchly omegaist anthem. Maddox changes lanes, but otherwise doesn’t react. His eyes never skip to mine in question or criticism. Ezra even hums along. Kill simply grins at me when I check his reaction.
I throw on Barbie Girl to really test it out, and I swear to god, the giant, scary alpha driving us bobs his head along with the beat.
“Now I know you’re fucking with me,” I say with a heavy sigh, resting back against the seat.
“What? It’s a good song,” he says.
I roll my neck and look at him. “Yeah right.” Glancing at Ezra and Kill, I shake my head. “There’s no way you like those songs.”
“I mean, the first one wasn’t my style, but I can still appreciate it. Barbie Girl is a classic, though,” Ezra says.
I frown. “So you wouldn’t be annoyed if I played music like that the whole way?”
Maddox pulls a face. “What type of douche bags have you been dating?”
