“Hurry up!” Lottie shouts.
Maddox glances over her shoulder, sighs, and steps inside, closing the bedroom door.
“Maddox,” I warn as he approaches me, hands already reaching for me. “Be a good alpha.”
“Mmm. That sounds like a terrible idea.” He walks around me, fingers brushing along my stomach in a ghost of a caress that sends a shiver down my spine, and moves toward the clothes scattered across my comforter. “What happened here?”
“I told you,” I say, stopping beside him and staring at the mess. “I don’t have anything to wear.”
“As much as I enjoy how sexy you look in that robe, I’m afraid I can’t let you leave the apartment wearing it.”
My stomach flutters at the compliment, but then the rest of the sentence settles in. “Excuse you. You can’tlet me?”
He side-eyes me, smirking at my irritation that is 100% driven by me being an omega. “What alpha in their right mind would let their omega out of the house half naked?”
Solid point.
“Don’t use logic on me,” I grumble, turning back to the dresses with a scowl.
Maddox pivots and heads into my closet like he owns the place. I mean, he does own the place, but that’s beside the point. This is my room. My nest.
“What are you doing?” I ask as he starts to shift through my outfits.
“Helping,” he says, casting me an amused glance. “Or would you rather I knot you?”
I mean. . . no. Lottie is waiting. “Don’t try to distract me with sex.”
“It was worth a try.” He takes a dress I don’t remember owning off the rack. “What about this one?”
The black leather tank dress has buttons running up one side, bunching the material in all the right places. The square cut of the top part is modest, but still sexy. Frowning, I pad into the closet and take it from him. The tag is an obscure designer.
“I don’t remember this.”
“Probably because I bought it for you.”
“It’s gorgeous,” I gush, running my fingers over the buttons. God I bet it fits like a dream. I can’t wait to try it on. My gaze lifts to meet Maddox’s emerald irises, which are far too curious. We’ll definitely never leave if I strip down in front of him. “Do you mind?”
“Maybe,” he says.
“Behave,” I warn. “Lottie is waiting.”
His jaw muscle flexes four times. “You make a good argument.”
Nodding, I gently guide him out of the closet. “We can do sexy time later,” I promise.
Grunting, he walks stiffly out of the bedroom and I try not to chuckle. With him gone, I ditch the robe and pull on the dress, releasing a little gasp as it settles perfectly on my hips. My eyes shoot to the mirror. My boobs look amazing. Turning, I check out my ass.
It’s the perfect size. So fucking cute. I grab a pair of burgundy lacey tights and tug them on then step into my mock Chelsea boots. Hair sliding over my shoulders, I bend to zip them up and realize there’s no way I’m bending over again.
Checking myself out in the mirror, smoothing my blonde hair, I smile. I’m practically glowing. I guess that’s what happiness can do to a person. I’ve never been in a relationship like the one I have with the pack. They accept Lottie wholly and completely, and they’ve never made me feel less than or not good enough.
With a sigh, I turn off the light to the closet and join the others in the living room. The men are talking with Lottie about her next competition, and one by one, their eyes cut to me and they stop talking. Lottie rolls her eyes, mutters something about them being whipped, and walks over to me.
“Maybe I should stay home?”
“What? No way. You’re coming with.”
Lines cut across her forehead. “No offense, you all stink. Like get a nest already.”
