Day Three
I’ve just walked into the house after my morning walk when I hear my phone ring.
Walking over to the table, I pick it up and see that it’s Belinda calling.
I can’t wait to hear her voice. It's crazy how much you can really miss someone when you haven’t seen them in so long, but you stay connected anyway.
She’s my better half, my person, my big sister.
“Hello.”
“Gem. I need a favor.” My sister says, in a panicked tone.
“What’s going on?” The worry in my tone is coming out through my words strongly.
“I’ve left Jasper.”
“What, why? Oh shit, I can leave here today-” I start to say before she cuts me off.
“No. You stay there; he doesn’t know I’ve left. If he calls you or comes by, just let him know the last time you talked to me, I was headed out shopping.”
“Okay, but what is going on? Should I be worried?” I ask.
“No. I don’t love him, Gem. I’ve been talking to someone else, and I promise I’ll tell you more soon.” She says. “I’ll call you when I reach the new place. I’ll be tossing my phone so I can’t be tracked.”
“Who would be tracking you?” I’m so confused.
“Listen, I don’t have much time. Promise me you will do this for me. Please, Gem.”
“Yes, of course I will.”
“Thank you, I have to go. We’ll talk soon. I love you.” Bee says.
“I love you too, Bee.” I say, “Be safe.”
The line disconnects, and I’m more confused, worried, and scared more than ever.
