One of the Pack

Arnold

S hadow hits my chest so hard I launch into the bathroom wall and since my legs are still jelly from coming into Ondine’s tight cunt, I fall to the ground.

Ondine. Ondine. Ondine.

She looked at me in awe. She missed me. She wanted me.

She also thought she did wrong by me.

I wish I could have found her sooner.

She seemed so shocked I remembered her responses to the surveys. I remember every fucking word she told me. At the time, professional Arnold was the absolute model of control and apathy. But having the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen tell you in detail about her breeding kink? Fuck me.

I was a goner.

It doesn’t help that betas and omegas chances for making an actual baby are lower than the earth.

Because it just makes me want to try all that much harder.

Omegas get pregnant during their heat while being knotted.

A feature only alphas have. But I’d like to go bare and come into her cunt as many times as it needs to make her pregnant.

I have a kink too, and it’s filling her with my cum over and over again.

Shadow looks like he wants to kick the shit out of me, but I’m so out of it I don’t care. This is what alphas do. Her bonded alpha will probably kill me for what we just did.

But I can’t shake the smile from my face.

These fuckers brought me closer to Ondine. And I’ve never been scared of an alpha before.

“You left me in that store because you saw her outside didn’t you?”

I try to stand but realize he got me good in my chest. Damn, I’m going to bruise.

“So what if I did? I wasn’t about to tell you Ondine was strolling past the windows.”

“I don’t think you understand your situation here.”

“I’m not a fucking prisoner! And I’m only here for her. And I’m not sharing. ‘Oh come on Shadow, I see the woman of my dreams, let me take you to her so you take her from me.’ Grow a fucking brain.”

Ondine told me not to worry. That she would talk to Jake. I’m not worried. Jake bonded a beta to secure her. He wouldn’t hurt her.

Also, when he yelled at her to get out, her pupils dilated and she sighed. She’ll be fine. I won’t be though. I need to get back to her.

“I guess Jake was right. She’s completely gone for you,” Shadow shakes his head. “Let’s go. We were in the middle of this shit. They are already on their way to the house and we don’t have anything to show her yet.”

He looks down at my chest, remorseful for having hit me. I hope he’s not thinking of being nice to me. I’m not done being a dick to him.

The front door is wide open when we get to the house. I turn to Shadow and he is sniffing the air. I lift my eyebrow in question.

“Jake gets a bit wild when he’s parted from the omega.” He nods towards Jake’s shoes upside down on the stairs.

Alphas. God.

We can’t do anything until the truck arrives in the morning.

Shadow tells me I can stay in the room Ondine was staying in.

He also shows me the towels and asks if I need to borrow some clothes.

He then takes me to the kitchen where he makes us some sandwiches.

It’s late, so I shower and crawl into bed to sleep shortly after.

The truck arrives around 5:00 am. Shadow meets me outside where we start loading things into the house.

We have to pass Jake’s room to get up to the second set of stairs that leads to the nest. It’s utterly silent on the other side. I’m glad they are making sure she’s sleeping. We load all the boxes up in the room. We spend all morning unboxing, organizing, and cleaning everything.

Shadow is quiet while we work. It helps with my mood. He also does what I say when I ask him.

The other alpha arrives as the bed is being delivered and set up by the movers from the nest store.

He’s handsome. His dark curly hair is shorn to his scalp. He has both soft and cut features. He looks sweet but also like he could choke you out with his giant arms.

He comes up to me with this almost friendly air about him. I’m drinking water in the kitchen.

“Arnold, is it? I’m Sebastian.” He gives me his hand to shake.

A polite alpha.

His grip is solid.

Hm.

“Nice to meet you.”

He takes my now empty glass and fills it with water for himself.

“I see you’re helping Shadow get the nest put together. I saw it the other day and it was looking pretty pathetic.”

He drinks from my glass like it isn’t the strangest behavior. Is he…hitting on me? Who reuses someone’s glass? Or is this just how it is in a pack? Sharing things and being oddly personal.

“It’s kind of my speciality. Though it’s not rocket science.”

He pauses and then gives me his full attention. “Your speciality?”

“I was a room manager at a Heat Clinic. I’m a certified omega caretaker and specialist.”

His mouth drops open.

“Well, I’ll be damned.”

He finishes the water and then puts the glass in the sink.

“Did you seduce her?” He asks with an implication I don’t care for.

“No,” I say between my teeth. “Ondine and I…things got out of hand that day.” I don’t let him know that for me they were out of hand from the moment she walked into the Clinic a year ago.

And things escalated each time she came in.

“I wasn’t going to deny her. I made a choice to ease her myself. And I don’t regret it.”

“Yeah, I understand that.”

We share a look. I wonder what he means. Was it about Ondine or someone else?

I follow him out of the kitchen and up to the nest. Shadow is up there too. It’s not very big, and having two alphas and three of the movers in the room feels too crowded. The movers finish assembling the bed, clean up, and leave.

This room is not big enough if she has more than two alphas in here with her.

I’ve already laid the rugs and piled up the materials on the side. I start putting the sheets on the bed.

“Ok, we need to hang the curtains. Do either of you know how to do that?”

Sebastian says he can and gets started. There are rods already in place so it’s not a huge task. Shadow sits on one of the upholstered benches under the windows and plays on his phone.

“There should be more chairs in here,” Shadow says to the room.

“Why?” I ask, exasperated.

“My mom has lots of chairs in her nest. Big plush ones. And it says here…”

I roll my eyes. “She may not want you all hanging out in here. She has her scent-match. They are mated. I don’t know the guy, but there’s a good chance they won’t allow too many handoffs. She’s going to be with him on her next heat. We’re all just options.”

Sebastian drops a screw and the sound pings through the room. He blows all the air out of his chest and stands there, wrestling with something in his mind.

He doesn’t understand alphas who have an omega. They are possessive and violent. Adding a scent match on that just makes everything worse.

My friend Mads is a great example of this.

After that Omega’s alphas found out about them dating, they assaulted him.

The guy hasn’t been able to work for the better part of a year.

He has to see a trauma therapist every week.

Speaking of which, he’s going to lose his mind if I ever tell him I was kidnapped by three psychopathic alphas and dark bonded.

I guess, to be fair, it’s not a dark bond. Those are done non-consensually. But being blackmailed to accept a bond is cousin to non-consensual agreements.

Finally Sebastian says, “They have a wildling bond. We don’t have to worry about Freddie. He’ll default to Ondine’s needs, and her desires.”

A stop what I’m doing. A wildling bond. I haven’t heard that in ages.

“Who told you that?”

“The doctor. She consulted an omega specialist, too.”

Huh, well that changed things. I look around the nest. Any worry I’d had about this alpha of hers is gone. We’d had sex in the bathroom last night and I’d been on the lookout for when her alpha returned and broke my arm. But that’s not going to happen.

Interesting.

“Beta, I have a question,” Sebastian says awkwardly from his corner of chaos.

I realize he wants me to come sit with him. He’s with Shadow on the bench. I come over and lean against the wall.

“What do you want to talk to me about?”

“So, you’re an omega expert, right?”

I try to hide my smile. What is this guy about to ask me? He’s being shy. He’s looking right at me, but there’s clearly this wall between us. He’s expectant and vulnerable.

Shadow is also very curious. They sit so close to each other.

“I am an omega caretaking expert, yeah,” I clarify.

“Ok, ok, ok,” he pitters off to himself.

“What’s going on, Sebastian?”

He sighs deeply and rubs his hand over his skull.

“Have you ever had a girlfriend?”

I can’t help the look of glee on my face. This is a strange turn of events. I think this is the funniest alpha I’ve ever met. “Yes, I’ve had a few.”

“How many?”

“A few in high school. One through college. I dated a lot out of college. I haven’t had anyone for a couple of years now.”

“All betas?”

“Yes.”

“How did you…meet them?” I don’t think he means “meet”. I think he means “get”.

“My last long time girlfriend was Anna. I met her on a dating app, Limerence. She was a dog person. She had long red hair and a hundred friends. She liked how tall I was and would show me off like a little prize she won at a carnival. I took her to coffee at first. Then a baseball game. Then I’d bring dinner to her apartment most nights.

I invited her over to my house and made tacos and gave her flowers and a card, and asked her to be my girlfriend. ”

He makes a little “hmmm” sound and it’s actually kind of endearing. I don’t tell him Anna was not great with intimacy. She mostly needed a boyfriend to take along to her friends’ and families’ events. “We moved in together after six months.”

“Wait, what happened?” Alphas don’t have these kinds of relationships. They would call this “a trial”. And there’s always a well documented contract. If there’s not, people can get hurt. The idea of casually seeing where things go is foreign to them.

“We were together for nearly two years. And then broke up.”

“Wow. Beta relationships sound fucking terrifying.”

Is Sebastian wanting to date Ondine?

Ondine lived most of her life as a beta. Maybe she’d want to be asked out. But she wouldn’t be happy dating someone long term that way. She has needs. But maybe she’d like it if someone dated her. Especially an alpha.

“Are you thinking of asking Ondine out?”

He goes completely pink at my question. That’s answer enough.
