Page 49 of Obsession
Robbie tears his eyes away from mine long enough to ask, “What about the handcuffs?”
Officer Miller smirks, then shoves him down on the chair and winks in my direction. “You have one hour, ma’am.”
He walks out and the click of the door cuts through the stunned silence like a gunshot.
“What. Did. You. Do?” Robbie growls so quietly and viciously that I almost shrink back.
Almost.
“I trust you, Robbie.” It’s the first time I’ve used his first name.
I scoot my chair back and round the small table. My heart slams brutal fists against my ribcage. I’m so fucking alive at this moment, and it dawns on me that I’ve been dead until now and never tasted the flavor of life.
It is sweet and succulent, not to mention painful as hell. My chest can’t contain it. I’m more scared than I’ve ever been—but not of him.
Never him.
What a fool that makes me.
“I trust you.” My voice barely carries, and his jaw tics in response.
“You trust me, Savannah?”
I’m beside him now, my fingers itching to stroke his hair away from his dark brow. “Do you believe me now?”
“It’s easy to trust a collared tiger that’s restrained.” His chin jerks to his handcuffs but soon snaps back to my fingers when I show him the small key I stole from Officer Miller’s pocket.
His dark chuckle is all sex, and I bite my lip in response.
“Want me to unshackle you, Robbie?” I whisper, giving in and stroking his hair away from his forehead. It’s as soft as I’ve imagined. Even more so.
“It depends,” he replies, his voice gruff. “What deal did you strike with Miller?”
My smile is innocent, and he narrows his eyes. “That’s not for you to worry about.”
Maybe I’m the most foolish woman on the planet, but I ignore the bite of fear inside me that urges me to sit my ass back down. The key turns in the lock with an audible click. Robbie never takes his eyes off me.
With gentle, trembling hands, I remove his handcuffs and let them fall to the floor. A beat passes when I can’t focus on anything but the loud thudding of my heart.
I look up, and my eyes clash with his.
In a swift move, he slides his arm behind me, scoops me up by my ass, and plops me down on the table. My spine meets the hard surface, but the sudden impact can’t be compared to the feel of his big, rough hands on my thighs.
He shoves my skirt up to my waist and growls low in his throat.
So…I didn’t put on panties this morning.
“Fuck me,” he whispers, wrenching my quivering thighs apart and staring at my pussy. “You’re going to be the death of me…”
“You’re the killer here, Robbie. So ruin me.”
His eyes meet mine, but instead of replying, he sinks to his knees and pulls me level with his mouth. Then he delivers a sharp slap to my swollen folds, which makes me yelp. Hebreathes me in and trails his nose down my slit while groaning low in his chest like a starved animal that’s ready to tear into flesh.
Fuck, I need his mouth on me. I need him to devour me. “I trust you, Robbie. Touch me.”
“Rule number seven…” His gruff voice whispers over my clit. “Don’t ever trust a condemned killer.”
He nips my clit with his teeth, causing me to arch off the table and moan loud enough to be heard outside. It’s a surprise the officer doesn’t storm the room.
