“ Okayy, yep. Uh-huh. See you t-tomorrow.” Her whole body tenses as she builds up to her orgasm. She ends the call, throwing the phone across the bed.
“ No more dates with random guys, only me. Understand?” She nods her head, back arching off the bed.
“ P-Penn, I ’ m going to come.” Oh, I know she is.
“ Do it, come on my fingers like a good girl.” That ’ s all it takes for her to explode, wild bucking of her hips as she experiences the rush of her high.
Once she ’ s regained her breathing, she crawls over to me, her tiny hand gripping me over my sweatpants. My hand circles her wrist, stopping her.
“ I didn ’ t come here for that. This was about you.”
Her hand freezes mid-motion as she blinks, her lips parting slightly as if searching for the right words. “ Oh.”
I plop down onto one of her pillows, stretching out my legs before tapping the sheet beside me. “ Lie down with me.”
She opens her mouth, then closes it. Looking around the room, she starts, “ No, I should probably go…”
“ Soup?”
“ Yeah?” I barely get her attention.
“ This is your apartment.”
“ Oh, duh. Uh—”
“ Get your cute butt over here right now, or I ’ ll do it for you,” I warn.
She scoffs, and it ’ s the best sound in the world. “ You wouldn ’ t dare, I ’ m too strong.”
“ You are strong,” I admit. “ But you ’ re not as tough as you look.” With one skillful yank of her arm, her body comes tumbling toward me. I catch her, positioning her back against my front. A perfect fit. My arm drapes over her stomach as my face nuzzles into the crook of her neck.
I don ’ t know how she always smells this good. My dick twitches, but I force it to deflate. I just want to hold her right now.
“ So… this is cuddling, huh?”
“ This is cuddling, Soup. What do you think?”
“ Meh, two out of ten.”
“ Damn. Tough crowd. What if I tickled your back, would that get me at least a five?”
“ You tickle any part of my body and I ’ ll cut your dick off in the night.”
I chuckle against her skin. Fuck, I like her so much. “ Noted.”
“ So, how long do we do this for?”
“ Long as we want,” I say, tucking a loose chunk of hair behind her ear. “ Got somewhere better to be?” I asked it casually, but now I ’ m worried I won ’ t like the answer.
“ Maybe.” Meh, I ’ ll take it.
“ Spend the day with me,” I whisper into her ear, my breath warm against her skin. She shivers, as goosebumps ripple across her neck.
She draws a slow breath. “ That ’ s not a good idea.”
“ Why not?”
“ Doesn ’ t that push the exclusive friends with benefits boundaries a little?” I never want to hear that goddamned ‘ F ’ word again.
“ Friends with benefits?” I mumble. A frustrated sigh slips from my lips as I shake my head. “ Is that what you think I want?”
“ Isn ’ t it? You said no more random dates, right? I mean, we have chemistry, and we ’ re neighbors, so it ’ s convenient.”
“ It ’ s more than that.” I pull my head back, working to turn her body to face me until we ’ re lying face to face. “ I like you.”
She closes her eyes, like her body is rejecting my words. “ No, you don ’ t.”
My thumb caresses her cheek, waiting for her eyes to return to me. “ I do.”
She shakes her head. “ You ’ ve just been sex deprived for so long, and I was the one to pull you out of that. That ’ s it. Trust me, it ’ s just a physical response.”
She ’ s maddening, but I ’ m not going to let this go. Time for honesty, I ’ m putting myself out there once and for all.
“ Fine, let ’ s take sex off the table then.”
“ Take it off the table?” she repeats in disbelief.
“ Yeah.” If that ’ s what it takes to convince her I ’ m serious about this, I ’ ll do it, gladly .
Her eyes widen briefly, but she quickly blinks, forcing a neutral expression. “ Fine.”
“ Fine,” I repeat back to her. “ Then you ’ ll actually give this a chance?”
I wait patiently for her answer. She glances back and forth between my eyes, a flicker of uncertainty betraying her usual composure.
“ As long as we ’ re both in Toronto. We can see where this goes.” The condition weighs heavy, but I ’ m too damn excited at the opportunity to worry about that right now.
I try to fight it, but a wide smile breaks free, spreading from ear to ear. “ Good. Then I ’ m taking you on a date. Tonight. Be ready at seven.”
I spring off the bed, invigorated by the elation pulsing through my body. I ’ ve got to get out of here before she changes her mind.
“ Wait.” I turn back to face her as she rises from the bed. “ Where are we going?”
“ Ah, ah, ah.” I waggle my finger at her. “ You seem to forget, I ’ m in charge.” I turn once more, but not before I send a wink in her direction.
About to cross the first step, I feel a tug at my hand.
When I turn, she ’ s on her tippy toes, pressing herself against me, bracing my face between her hands, eyes locked on mine.
She ’ s still fully nude, so I feel like I should get props for not dropping her eye contact to stare at the perfection that is her body.
“ Sex is so not off the table.” She pulls me in for a brief kiss, sucking on my bottom lip before giving it the sexiest little nip. She lowers herself down again. She ’ s so fucking perfect.
“ Oh my little Soup.” This time, I bracket her face, her eyes looking up at me with such wonder that it makes my heart thump in my chest. “ I ’ m going to make you fall in love with me.”
She smiles—it ’ s innocent and in control—and drives me so fucking wild.
“ No shot.”
I love a challenge.
