His head falls back against the pillows, but it quickly snaps back up to look at me. His hands encompass my thighs as a pained look crosses his face.

“Baby, I need you to come,” he rasps.

Knowing I’m the one making him lose control is a heady feeling that sends me spiraling toward the edge. I forcefully slide my clit against him on the next few rotations of my hips, and I fall off the cliff’s edge.

He pulls me down so my chest is flush against him as his own orgasm hits him like a freight train. “Fuck, baby,” he groans into my neck.

Inky waves of pleasure wash over me from my toes to the top of my head. My whole body is captured in this overwhelming feeling.

Our bodies stay glued together. The last ripples pass through each of us. We stay still until our breathing evens out and we settle back into reality.

He pulls my hair to the side, kissing my neck just below my ear. Rolling me to my back, he eases out of me.

I can’t help but stare at his ass when he moves into the bathroom. He comes back with a wet cloth that he gently cleans me with.

I don’t know what I expect after that, but him sliding in beside me isn’t it. He rolls me on my side, so he can snuggle in behind me.

One of his arms is wrapped around my waist, while he snakes the other under my head, so I’m laying on his bicep.

My brain can’t even process everything that happened tonight, but I don’t care to. I love having him here with me, and that’s enough.

His breath tickles my neck with each exhale.

“Thanks for rescuing me tonight,” I whisper, my eyes starting to flutter closed.

“Always,” he says, pressing a kiss to my shoulder.

In the safety of his arms, with the sound of rain trickling against the window, I fall into one of the most peaceful sleeps of my life.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Owen

Will’ssteps falter when he swings his office door open, finding Miles and me already inside.

“I guess this is happening now,” he says, more to himself than to us. He rounds his wooden desk, setting his coffee mug down along with his keys and phone.

“So, you finally stopped being a dumbass,” Miles says from where he’s leaning against the bookshelf.

Will’s head snaps up to look at our youngest brother. I think he’s going to snap back, but he shrugs. “I still think I’m being a dumbass, but I can’t stay away from her anymore.”

That’s a sentiment I think all three of us understand with stark clarity.

“Do you want her all to yourself?” I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

I’m not upset that things finally imploded between the two of them last night. The chemistry between them has been obvious the entire time she’s been in Aspen Springs.

I will, however, do something I’ve never done before and punch my brother in the face if he tries to take what little time I have with her away.

He shakes his head. “No, I don’t.” He runs his fingers through his hair. “I knew you two already had something going on with her. I should have talked to you before…” His voice trails off as his mind clearly drifts back to last night. “It just happened.”

I know all too well how things can just happen when one Avery Davis is concerned.

“I’m not mad,” Miles says. “The tension between you two has been palpable for weeks. It was inevitable something was going to happen.”

Will smiles. “And you didn’t to share this knowledge with me?”

“I figured I’d let you exist for a little longer in your own delusional land where you thought you could resist her and be the ‘hero,’” he says, putting air quotes around the last word.
