Page 109 of Meant to Be
“Fuck,” he groans as he comes undone as well, drilling into me once more. “You feel so fucking good. Better than I could have ever imagined.”
“Harley?” I whisper.
“Sweetheart?” He stops, eyes pouring into mine.
“I choose you,” I murmur. “It’s you. It’s always been you.”
The look on his face brings tears to my eyes. He is so happy. I never in a million years expected this from him. Bad Boy Harley. Delinquent Harley. Asshole Harley.
I think he’s in love with me.
And I’m in love with him.
He kisses the side of my face as he thrusts, harder and deeper, growing more confident with each passing moment.
“You’re going to be mine?” he whispers, smiling into the kiss.
“I’ve always been yours.”

We spend longer than we should have tangled in each other’s limbs, the sheets twisted around us. Heated, sweaty, breathless. Harley can’t keep his hands off me, despite everything. We kiss so much my lips hurt. In between my legs ache, but in a good way.
Harley and I reluctantly peel ourselves from the bed. He gives me a long, lingering kiss that has heat licking my core in the most delicious way.
“When will you tell him?” he asks. “I can’t go another day seeing you two together.”
“I’ll tell him,” I promise. “Tonight.”
Harley’s fingers pull through my hair. His eyes intently scan my face, as if he is drinking in every single one of my features.
“I’ll call you tomorrow,” he says.
“We’re finally going to be together,” I whisper. “It doesn’t feel real.”
He grazes his nose with mine. “I know.”
Thinking about the aftermath of this is enough to send me into an anxiety attack. I have no idea what my friends will think. What will happen to our group? How will Nick ever be able to look me in the eyes again?
All of these things have circled inside my head and crushed my spirit for so long. But I need to be brave.
I squeeze his hand, before I unlock the door and slide out of the room. I beeline for the bathroom to freshen up. When I reappear downstairs, I’m shocked to find life is going on just as normal. Nick is still on the lounge, Elise is playing cards with a group, and there’s a group of girls dancing on the patio.
My whole world has been rocked and here everyone is, without a clue.
Pouring myself a drink, I survey Nick for a moment. He’s chatting away to the group. He probably has no idea I wasn’t out here. I feel like I was gone for hours.
When Elise notices me, she springs to her feet and bounds over.
“Hey, where have you been? I was looking for you.”
“Hey, um, I need to talk to you—” I stop when I see her tear-filled eyes. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
“Brennon is being cagey and weird,” she huffs. “We were meant to meet tonight. He said he had a special surprise for me. He asked me to meet him in one of the spare rooms but they were both locked, and he hasn’t been seen anywhere.” Her eyes are scanning the area. “Do you think he was with someone else?”
“Well. The spare room on the right was occupied,” I admit. “I don’t know about the other one. I haven’t seen him.”
“He got pissed off that I was hanging with Eric. He’s always telling me I lead him on. I argued that I’m not. He stormed off … I assumed we were still meeting though … wait a second. Were you in one of the spare rooms?”
