“I don’t know. I’m already having a little trouble.”
“Cut it out.”
“What? I’m just being honest.”
“Whatever. Just start browning the meat. I’m dying to see how this cheese dip is going to turn out with taco seasoning in it.”
“I can’t believe you’ve never had it like this before. Who taught you how to make cheese dip?”
“Who do you think?”
I eyed her for a moment then quickly realized who she was talking about. “Your aunt?”
“Mmhmm, and she wasn’t a big fan of it when we were kids. She just knew that we loved it, so she made it.”
“That sounds about right.”
“Yeah, you know my aunt is all about finding someone else to cook. It wasn’t that she couldn’t cook, she just didn’t like to.”
“Understood. Not everyone enjoys being in the kitchen like that, and despite what people say, I think that’s okay. The woman doesn’t have to be the cook in the relationship.”
“Thank God, because I’m definitely not going to be the cook inthisrelationship.”
“Yeah, we know. We’re going to let you stick to making candles.”
Laughing, she shot her head back. “Wow? Really?”
“My bad, beautiful.”
“Mmhmm, whatever.” Still amused, she smiled while cutting the block of cheese into little squares. “Is the crockpot on?”
“Yep, and it’s nice and hot.”
“Perfect.”
“So, how was the movie last night?” I asked.
“It was pretty good. Of course, Kendra talked shit the whole time before the movie started.”
“Why? Because you made her get there early for no reason?”
“There was a reason.”
“Babe, you don’t have to—”
“Nope, I don’t want to hear it,” she said before throwing her hand up. “If you’re going to the movies with me, I suggest you be prepared to get there early to watch the previews.”
“Damn, it’s like that?” I said while easing up behind her and sliding my arms around her waist.
“Yep, and I’m not apologizing for it.”
“It’s all good.” I tucked my head into her neck and showered her with a few kisses. “I’m going to be right there. No complaints.”
“Good.”
“You know I love your fine ass, right?”
“That’s what you keep telling me.”
