Page 63 of Logan
“Logan.”
He doesn’t look at me.
“Logan,” I call out again, louder this time, even though I know full well he heard me. “We need to talk about what happened inside.”
“No. Nothing happened. I got carried away for a moment, that’s all.”
“Don’t tell me nothing happened because, in my eyes, something definitely did. And there’s no way you didn’t feel anything.” I shake my head, remembering the scene thatplayed out in my mind that morning and the feeling of déjà vu that won’t leave me.
“That wasn’t our first kiss, was it? It wasn’t just in my imagination?”
“Yes, I kissed you at the club. But only because I wanted you to stop talking.”
“What did I say?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“What did I say?” I insist. “Logan.”
“You said you wanted to sleep with me. But you were drunk, and you didn’t mean it.”
“Maybe I was drunk, but I meant it. I want you.” There. I said it. I put it out there.
He shakes his head. “No, you don’t.”
“I know you want me, too, that you feel the attraction between us. I felt you.” I close my eyes for a moment, going back to that instant, and grin. “Did you take a cold shower just now?”
He narrows his eyes. “It doesn’t matter what I want or don’t want. You work for me.”
“We’re two consenting adults. We’re attracted to each other. It’s just sex. No one needs to know.”
“No. I don’t sleep with my employees under any circumstances.”
“Then I’ll quit.”
“Not a fucking chance. You’re our top employee. We need you.”
“You can’t dictate where I work. I’ll quit anyway, whether or not you agree.”
“Please don’t do that.” He runs a hand through his hair, causing it to stand on end. “You said you love working at Valeur.”
“What if I quit while I’m in London?”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll send a message right now that I’m resigning. So, I’m no longer working at Valeur, right? And the moment we get back to the States, you’ll rehire me, and I’ll agree.”
“That’s the craziest plan I’ve ever heard.”
“It will work. You say all that’s stopping you is the fact that I work at Valeur. So…” I pull my phone from my pocket and type rapidly. “There. Sent. I quit. I no longer work at Valeur. Now it’s up to you whether to rehire me when we get back. I don’t care. I mean, I do care, but it’s done. So, I hope you’ll take me back.”
“I can’t believe you just did that.”
“What happens in London stays in London, right?”
“I’ll stop it.” He tries to call, but it’s around six in the morning back home, and no one answers. “I’ll cancel the resignation before it becomes official.”
“You won’t be able to reach anyone for a while yet, and until you cancel the resignation, I’m not your employee, so we have a few hours at least.” I tilt my head. “Now, what do you intend to do? Are you going to keep standing here like a statue, or fuck me?”
