Page 155 of Logan

I pretend to ponder, tapping my chin. “Hmm, I don’t know. It’s been like a day since I checked. I might need to make sure.”

A slow, predatory smile spreads across Logan’s face. His hand finds the small of my back, pulling me flush against him. “Well, you can do a thorough inspection on the way. On the plane.”

My heart skips a beat, excitement bubbling up inside me. “Plane? On the way where?”

Logan’s eyes sparkle. “Our vacation. I think we both need one.” He leans in, his lips brushing my ear as he murmurs, “And I’ve always wanted to join the mile high club.”

A shiver of desire runs down my spine. I pull back just enough to meet his gaze. “Well, Mr. Ambitious,” I purr, running a finger down his chest, “I think that can be arranged.”

The car is waiting at the curb, and Logan holds the door open for me. As I slide in, his phone buzzes. He freezes mid-motion, staring at the screen.

“What is it?” I ask, sensing the shift in his energy.

He hands me the phone. The message is short, chilling:

“I’m just beginning Valeur.—The Silent Witness.”
