Fenn,

Forgive me for writing again when it is so clear you have forgotten me. Almost a month has passed; my previous letters must have reached you, and yet no reply.

But something terrible has happened, and I find myself with no choice but to seek your help. Our beloved Papa is gravely ill, and the new duke—heartless and cruel as he is—intends to cast us out of our home. He is wicked beyond measure, and we are utterly powerless against him.

Papa grows weaker with each passing day, and I fear he will not survive the shock of being turned out. We have nowhere to go, no means to protect ourselves. I wrote to the duke, pleading for mercy, begging for a meeting, but he ignored me entirely.

Oh, Fenn, if ever you cared for me, I beg you now—please help us. We are desperate beyond words, staring into a future on the streets with no hope in sight.

Yours in utter despair,

Emily
