Oh Goodness! Oh Heavens!

I have never in my life held such a fine pair of stockings! Real silk! In pomona green! Thank you ever so much. They are far too lovely to wear—I dare not! Instead, I shall keep them safe, staring at them in awe and touching them now and then, like a treasure too precious to use.

Thank you also for the ribbon for Cissy. I told Papa they were a gift from someone in the parish. I hope you do not mind, for I fear Papa does not believe in forest fays and might frown upon me accepting presents from strangers, even magical ones.

But then, are we truly strangers any more? After all our letters, I feel as though we are something quite different.

Your most grateful, yet confused,

Little Wren

My dear Little Wren,

Confused? You? Surely not! After all these letters, I feel I know you better than many who live in this forest. Strangers we are not—of that, I am certain.

As for the stockings, they are meant to be worn, not hoarded like some miser’s coin! Put them on, or I shall be most cross. And trust me, you do not want to incur the wrath of a forest fay.

Yours, most sincerely,

Fenn
